The fact that someone said boat shoes seem pretty essential to law school makes me want to drop out of law school. We went on a boat cruise as a weekend social event and some kid wore salmon colored pants and boat shoes. I called up people from back home to tell them how out of my element I was. They wanted to beat me up for even being close to someone with salmon colored pants. Going to law school does not require you to try and become a pretentious douche. I'll admit that many of those types self-select into it. But if you are not one, don't feel pressured to become one.

Salmon pants can fly if you're wearing shoes that are actually fashionable. Like... sneakers.

Boat shoes? You might not want to look like a bad joke out of Revenge of the Nerds as you go through life.

I'm now kind of irritated boat shoes entered into this thread.

They belong in no real man's wardrobe, ever.

That I am not. Nor am I from a part of the North where I could go outside with salmon colored pants on and come back with a sense of dignity. But hey, every place is different.

I don't like boat shoes but some people pull them off. My brother has a few pairs and he lives in NJ so its def not just a south thing, although he wears them very differently. Think GQ lol. A nice pair of skinny jeans (fashionable not emo) and a grey tee.

You missed the point. I don't actually want to know. I just want to know that there are people out there who know what these things are.

I just can't believe people wear skinny jeans with boat shoes. That was definitely today's mind-blowing revelation.

God, don't remind me. The upshot is that I'll be able to actually interact with clients, because I'm not socially retarded. And no, I'm not going into M&A or anything else where I have to deal with i-bankers.

I just need to figure out a way out to the west coast and jeans and jackets...

Apparently the collective wisdom is that not only do men wear that combination, but 100% of women (3 out of 3) think that the combination of boat shoes and skinny jeans on a guy looks cool/supergood/awsome.

It is physically impossible for skinny jeans to look good on any human being. Might as well divide by zero.
