It's not quite wear whatever you want in my opinion, but almost.

I wear jeans, a button down shirt and sandals or sneakers every day and this is fine. The only reason I go that far and don't wear basketball shorts or whatever is for the professors.

No self-respecting law student will care what you wear and if they do fuck them.

Professors on the other hand may find it a little harder to take you seriously if you wear a backwards baseball cap, muscle shirt and basketball shorts. This is the ONLY reason I care at all about what I dress like. Professors can be helpful for a lot of things and I want to make it as easy as possible to be taken seriously.

This should in no way be taken as a reason to be that guy and wear a tie and khakis to school every day. Just look well kept and not slovenly.

I don't know about most other schools, but we don't have a that guy, as far as I've noticed. Everyone I've ever seen in a tie either (a) had an interview, or (b) was doing some sort of oral argument.

True. We don't. I was using that guy in the universal douchebag connotation.

If you are going to school at a Yale or a Temple or a USC it is probably best to not wear anything too whorish. If you do, don't stay out late or walk anywhere alone without first putting this on: http://www.freshpolos.com/447099/produc ... Shirt.html

Just look presentable. I am assuming you want your professors and classmates to take you seriously, so perhaps you might want to stay away from dressing sloppy. I am sure there will be days when you're running late due to whatever reasons, so if that is the case, relax, wear what you have and get to class. Your classmates and professors probably will not care to much about your outfits (assuming they're clean and odor free) but a little effort on your part probably wouldn't hurt.

I am sure most of these items combined will look just fine, granted they're clean: Jeans, polo, dress shirts, sweaters, jackets, sneakers, dress shoes, etc.

Good luck in law school!
