Well my concern in maing this thread was whether or not people keep their beliefs to themselves, or start shit slinging at each other kind of like... this thread.
For the record I'm a Christian and most of my friends are hard core liberal and tend to trash on religious people in general which I get tired of, so i made this to get an idea of whether or not I would have to deal with people saying things like

Yea this thread got kind of stupid, I feel a bit dumb now for pushing my point for so long earlier when everybody kept arguing against it. Don't know what I was thinking.

Don't worry, none of us are optompistic.Fish127 wrote:Well my concern in maing this thread was whether or not people keep their beliefs to themselves, or start shit slinging at each other kind of like... this thread.

I wouldn't treat this thread as representative. This is the fucking internet. The people aren't "real." In law school, you will have a minority of people who are in your face with objectively retarded shit like this (which was the initial motivation for my contribution to the shitstorm):Fish127 wrote:Well my concern in maing this thread was whether or not people keep their beliefs to themselves, or start shit slinging at each other kind of like... this thread.

... but even they can be, and usually are, OK people in real life. At least as long as you aren't talking about religion or politics.calidancer2 wrote:lolololololololJohn Mill wrote: Don't really wanna get into a big political debate, just not very impressed with what he's done. Then while campaigning for his second term he billed himself as some great champion of the middle class, and most of what he's done has only hurt the middle class.
I just read an article a little while ago about how Papa John's pizza is cutting back on employee hours to pay for Obamacare. Plus I have an uncle who makes too much money for the state to pay his health insurance, but not enough to afford to pay for it himself, and now he's being charged for that. Plus I think that Obama putting heavy taxes on big corporations is just going to wind up costing the middle class a bunch of jobs.
I wanna be clear, I don't think much more of people like Mitt Romney, I heard somebody describe this election as a battle to decide the shiniest of two turds, and I think that's a pretty fitting example, was super unimpressed this year, although I'm also sick as fuck of the recession so I might just be taking my frustration out where it isn't due...
most are appropriately blaming Papa John, not Obama for that. EAT DOMINOES INSTEAD!!!!

Oh it was plenty obvious. It couldn't have been more obvious. I just can think of at least four law students off the top of my head who would say, and have said, things like that in real life. I guess that makes you a successful troll though. Congrats.calidancer2 wrote:My obvious trolling apparently isn't quite obvious enough for you, fatty

I'm impressed. This was definitely the shittiest thread I've read on TLS, which is saying quite a lot. I'd like to give mad props to John Mill, for making FattyMcFatFat look like an intelligent and nuanced poster in comparison.
John Mill: You sound like a fourteen year old boy defending his beliefs by trying to shout louder. I can only imagine what you will sound like once you get around to reading Ayn Rand.

He already said he didn't have any statistics, it was just an assumption. Really lets let this thread die though...LexLeon wrote:Citation?sinfiery wrote:Statistically, they are both most definitely true.John Mill wrote: Neither of those assumptions are true, and the first one is actually fairly stupid

Re: Are There More Christians or Atheists in Law School?
One last thing that you guys may or may not have already read:
http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2012/08/ ... structure/
TL;DR: Berkley did a study about the effects of LSAT preparation and alterations in the brain's structure. Using MRI's, they concluded that the neocortex undergoes alterations.
The neurological changes can probably be derived from any sort of rigorous studying. As a result, just like with "lifting weights" we can improve what we have. How much we can improve is subject to debate, however, you guys should be happy to know that the LSAT has actually helped us out.

Pretty much this. But it hasn't come up so far, and if it does, who cares? We, the godless liberals, won't bother you.chimp wrote:Who gives a fuck?
There is very little worse than someone trying to start a political/religious argument in a law school class.
And, again, Who gives a fuck?

Re: Are There More Christians or Atheists in Law School?
And for the record, many Christians tend to trash on atheists and agnostics, which we get tired of. You know how to prevent it coming up to begin with? Keep your personal beliefs to yourself. There are going to be a lot of assholes in life who don't agree with you on everything. I suggest you get comfortable with that instead of avoiding it at all costs.Fish127 wrote:Well my concern in maing this thread was whether or not people keep their beliefs to themselves, or start shit slinging at each other kind of like... this thread.

You brought up religion and expected it not to turn into a shitstorm? What world do you live in?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
