People on ATL and TLS are way too pessimistic. You know what the guy who finishes last is called? Lawyer.

We only act this way online to discourage people from applying so that we can get all the top spots.laxbrah420 wrote:People on ATL and TLS are way too pessimistic. You know what the guy who finishes last is called? Lawyer.

So true. Most law professors went to Harvard and Yale. If they didn't think that lower law schools are still worthwhile they wouldn't be teaching there.

Why? They get paid regardless of if their students get jobs.laxbrah420 wrote:So true. Most law professors went to Harvard and Yale. If they didn't think that lower law schools are still worthwhile they wouldn't be teaching there.
Imagine being a "lawyer" without a "lawyer job". Try explaining to all your confused family and friends why you're not making a lot of money and are working at subway even though you are a "lawyer".

This is actually a fallacy because the prestige of a law degree can translate into many different professions. If you end up at Subway, it's because you didn't take advantage of all the opportunities law school had to offer.john7234797 wrote:Why? It may be a bit of an exaggeration but look at the people listed as "Unemployed" on LST. Eventually they gotta do something so they can eat.InGoodFaith wrote:This is actually a fallacy because the prestige of a law degree can translate into many different professions. How about going out and getting a real job instead of becoming one of thesejohn7234797 wrote:It may be a bit of an exaggeration but look at the people listed as "Unemployed" on LST. Eventually they gotta do something so they can eat.

Given that there's a pacific mcgeorge applicants thread on the front page of tls, apparently plenty of people still haven't figured it out.

How many of the people listed as "unemployed" do you think aren't looking? I'm guessing most are. When nothing comes through for a year though.. well you gotta work a job you never imagined yourself working as a college graduate, let alone a law degree.InGoodFaith wrote:How about going out and getting a real job instead of becoming one of thesejohn7234797 wrote:It may be a bit of an exaggeration but look at the people listed as "Unemployed" on LST. That's the problem with your generation. You believe that just because you got a degree, you are entitled to a good job. No work ethic whatsoever.

Honestly, I don't think I could have phrased it any better than IGF, and I'm a good writer.

Kids these days just need to learn how to hustle. The "in" you get through networking is just about a guaranteed job, so I don't understand why people don't network more; instead, they just complain on online forums all day.InGoodFaith wrote:This is actually a fallacy because the prestige of a law degree can translate into many different professions.
