Just because they're meant to be exclusive doesn't mean they're going to turn away anyone else who wants to attend and contribute. If you want to measure e-peens, the Diversity events at Yale were targeted for diverse students exclusively, yet remained opened to anyone who wanted to attend because while diverse students should be recognized and celebrated, progress cannot be truly measured until everyone takes part in the process.RedPurpleBlue wrote:Diversity Days at NU undergrad have been exclusive events, so I don't appreciate you calling me naive, when I have first hand experience of diversity days not including vanilla AF people. Diversity events in high school (in the midwest) were also exclusive minority events. Would have appreciated a bit more tact on your end.fips tedora wrote:Diversity is meant to be promoted across all spectrums, don't be so naive because you're vanilla AF (maybe pun intended). Also, good catch Blue664. I didn't notice the director's title was diversity education and outreach. I imagine that would suck if there was only one opportunity to self-identify, and you missed the boat.

Wasn't trying to imply that is how it was at all Midwestern high schools. That's just the experience I had.guybourdin wrote:Not in my Midwestern high school...thats kind of weird imo.RedPurpleBlue wrote:Diversity events in high school (in the midwest) were also exclusive minority events. Asking people for tact? Lol. Cmon.
Hey, it can never hurt to ask.

Re: Northwestern Pritzker - Class of 2020
I'm not trying to measure e-peens at all. I'm just pointing out that my experiences, like everyone else, are shaped by my background and identity. Consequentially, it's a bit unfair to call me naive and vanilla AF in an antagonistic manner when I had a reasonable expectation that Diversity Days would be exclusive. Sorry I seemed to offend you though. I'll just concede now, so we don't have to bicker. Your e-peen is far larger than mine!fips tedora wrote:Just because they're meant to be exclusive doesn't mean they're going to turn away anyone else who wants to attend and contribute. No mention of $$ but he did give us the best hot dog place near campus (Downtown Dogs?).RedPurpleBlue wrote:Yeah, anyway. Anyone hear anything useful in the chat with Dean Rodriguez today?
Also confirmed that the Pritzker donation was indeed going to assist tuition for the underserved/those interested in public sector.
On a bright note, the days are dwindling down! It'll be today or tomorrow so we can relax at this point. I'm excited this will all be over by the weekend lol

Also, the fact that everyone got the e-vite to the diversity event isn't unusual. I imagine they'd probably get in trouble if they hit up *specific* prospectives only. "Diversity" is a pretty broad umbrella, even though....y'know...we know.
Anyway, if you want to come, come. But don't be surprised at a specific demographic being the majority in attendance and don't say anything ignorant that will have everyone look at you funny. You'll be fine. Might even learn something.
