Well, I'm not huge on college towns but I do think that the fact that I'll be able to end up in a big city after graduating (as long as I don't screw up my grades lol) has kind of been a way to make it okay in my mind lol. Plus, the lower CoL is a huuuuge win.

I think I am okay with letting uva and NU slide. Though I've never been to Chicago and it's a nice city, I think it's even colder and more grey than A2 lol and I went to undergrad at a VA public school and don't really want to move back and limit my network/surroundings at UVA, though my entire college network is still in that state

Idk if you ever visited UVA for undergrad, but based on what I've seen people saw about the LS, I get the feeling that it's similar to the vibe I got when I visited the campus for UG... Someone in NU's class thread kinda recapped their day during ASW. Idk if it'll be helpful or not, but it provides some info at least. I'd imagine Chicago is probably colder, yeah, because even though Michigan has the lake effect, NU is RIGHT by the lake lol. Fair warning: I've heard Cornell is cold AS HELL lol. Duke is going to be the warmest of your options. It's in Durham, which is not a college town, but Chapel Hill is like 10 minutes away (definite college town). Some of Duke's basketball players used to go to bars on Franklin St. -- idk if that means they liked that area better or.. lol. I'm not crazy about Durham (and I hate dook for alma mater reasons lol) but I can acknowledge that it's a good school. Not really sure what their LS culture is.

Thanks for your help! That guys NU recap was helpful lol. Yeah my UG hated UVA in a similar fashion as Duke is for you (except UVA didnt care enough about us to have an opinion of us). My cousin will also be at Duke next year, and my other cousin at another NC school near by, so that would be pretty cool. Just from pictures, Dukes facilities aren't as nice as michigans, and I like Michigans unique features for international programs and the lawyers club/dining hall. It's basically head vs heart right now, except my heart isn't set on anything.

Hm.. Well, it sounds like you're leaning towards Michigan. I'm sure going to Cornell Friday will help clarify things as well. If you're definitely interested in international law, I'd just do some research on the programs of each of those schools and see which school has the best opportunity for that too. Either way, you have great options so you can't really make a "bad" choice

On that note, does anyone know the LC policy regarding visitor. My GF and a few friends want to visit me at AA and the obviously would wanna stay with me to cut costs. Would it be ok if my GF or a friend stayed with me at the LC for some time? (like a week). I assume it would be.

I was told by a friend who toured LC during Preview that visitors are okay, but maybe a current student living there rn can confirm?

It's super relaxed - there aren't doormen at the entrances or anything. Visitors are totally fine.

BL: 56% vs. 66%
PI/Gov: 13% vs. 10%
Clerkships: 21% vs. 18% (you could make the case that fed>state, but without knowing what the state clerkships are, it's difficult to tell)

They are peer schools, it seems awfully silly to me to argue otherwise.

Easy, easy people. Merely pointing out the biggest gap here. I know nothing about the legal market at this point so based on my limited knowledge of biglaws, I feel like 500+ firms represent more prestige. Not that it concerns me tho, I'm going for public interest.

Hey thanks! I actually just got approved for PTO to visit Duke (and UVA). I'll be emailing all the offices tonight about setting up a visit and deposit extensions!
