Luckily it isn't supposed to snow more tomorrow. I'm just glad we only had to go outside like twice for our tour. I was miserable the first day of the first Preview Weekend after flying in that morning, but my 2nd and 3rd day in Ann Arbor were wonderful! I hope you have a similar experience!Keilz wrote:Yeah this weather and the impending doom and drear of the dark grey sky all day is not giving me a good vibe at allI'm also like deliriously tired so it might be that too.

I hope so too! The building is nice and I've already talked to five times more faculty staff and students than the Berkeley ASWSTribe14 wrote:I was miserable the first day of the first Preview Weekend after flying in that morning, but my 2nd and 3rd day in Ann Arbor were wonderful! Yeah, just focus on the people. They're what sold me on the place lol.Keilz wrote:I hope so too! Re: Michigan Class of 2020
Yeah, I don't love Ann Arbor (although I am really impressed by the amount of stuff they have in walking distance as compared to the college town I went to UG in) but the people were really awesome and genuinely enjoyable to be around. I know weather can be a factor too, but try not to let it dampen the mood of the weekend! Get a Lyft and go out at night lolKeilz wrote:I remember you saying that and was thinking about it today!brinicolec wrote:Yeah, just focus on the people. Re: Michigan Class of 2020
My SO (5'6") drives an AWD Forester and loves it. Got it for the purpose of handling snowy conditions and it has been excellent for that purpose (it's a world of difference compared to various front-wheel drive sedans I've driven in the snow). I like the way it handles...it almost feels like a sedan and you can't really feel the extra weight that the SUV brings. My only complaint is that the car is very responsive, but I have always been used to cars with less sensitive pedals and you grow into it eventually. Can't attest to it's gas conservation, but I know that my SO did extensive research in looking for the best bang-for-your-buck AWD mid-sized SUV and this is what she settled on.brinicolec wrote:Anyone familiar with the Subaru Forester? It came up on like every SUVs for short people list because it has so many windows. Apparently my dad likes it for me but I wasn't really impressed with the look of it. I want to sit in one anyway to see how it drives.
It's worth checking out the Honda CR-V as well...feels pretty similar to the Forester and you may like the way it looks better.

Fwiw the weather isn't terrible, it could definitely be worse. I am super impressed with the faculty and students available for conversations so far. I think I am starting to feel a certain way towards Michigan Law

I test drove a Forester earlier and thought it seemed a little loud and bumpy. I'm used to pretty smooth, quiet rides. My dad's also a huge car nerd, so I've grown to like luxury features/vehicles because he taught me all I know about cars. Also drove a Nissan Rogue today and liked it. Not very sporty, but it's very comfortable lol. Also, when I say short, I'm like 5'2... Lol. If it were up to me, I'd be getting a car, but my mom wants me to get something with more space for when I have to move again so I don't have to worry about getting everything from point A to point B in a car. Might check out an Infiniti G37 as a car option, though I'm not sure I'll be able to convince my parents it has enough space. Also looking at the Buick Encore and the Ford Escape Titanium (which is the high-end version of the Escape with lots of upgrades and stuff).
Car shopping is fun but also a pain in my ass lol

Current 1L--as far as I know the official tuition costs haven't come out yet. What I've gotten from FinAid is that it's usually a 3% increase per year.CR7 wrote:Can someone post or send me the link to the tuition cost for 2017-2018? Thanks!

Re: Michigan Class of 2020
Does anyone know how long it takes after depositing to get the "uniqname" we need to log-in to the Wolverine Access site? I was gonna fill out my loan app but I need to get on that site and see how much I can borrow first.
Edit: Nvm, just got the email
. So if anyone else is wondering, it takes like.. a day lol

Re: Michigan Class of 2020
Those of you attending, where will you live?
I'm thinking about the Lawyer's Club, but I don't really wanna have to pay for the food there all year because I'll probably get bored of it.
I was thinking of maybe getting an apartment nearby and saving on some food/cooking for myself + have more privacy since I'll be able to invite people over to my apartment and hang out without the rules of the Lawyer's Club etc. (things like loud music or smoking/drinking I imagine aren't allowed at the LC)
Thoughts?
My only doubts are that maybe when winter comes around I'll regret having to commute to class in the bitter cold.

I think I'll be in the lawyers club- it's more expensive than I would like, but I think it will give me the best social experience.
Fwiw, drinking is allowed in the LC!

I'm getting an apartment within a mile of school. I don't want to live on campus but I want to be able to walk to everything.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
