Still waiting as well and also had final review date change on 4/24. I called the office of student financial services and told them how I was told I'd hear back by Tuesday but still have not yet received a notification. They seemed to treat the situation more urgently when I told them I had a deadline from another school that was coming up this weekend.huskyfan72309 wrote:Yes. If you log onto the FAAPS website (which can be accessed under the Financial Aid section of the admitted students website), there is a link at the top that says "My Status," which will tell you where your application is in the review process.MoonyUpToNoGood wrote:armc808 wrote:huskyfan72309 wrote:Yes. I just received my financial aid award within the last 30 minutes (FINALLY lol). If you're still waiting maybe this means you will get yours soon (if you haven't already)!MoonyUpToNoGood wrote:Noted, thanks!
I'd think that everyone would be getting decisions in the next day or so? They can't expect us to deposit if we don't have any aid info, right? Or maybe I'm giving the process too much credit
Did you get an email telling you to check it?armc808 wrote:I just received my financial aid award within the last 30 minutes (FINALLY lol). If you're still waiting maybe this means you will get yours soon (if you haven't already)!MoonyUpToNoGood wrote:Noted, thanks!

That is exactly what I thought as I read multiple pages of them reminding me that they gave me nothing.jjcorvino wrote:This is the most NYU thing of all time.negativenancy wrote:"We are pleased to offer you a Dean's Award Scholarship... of $0"

You have to think of school-based scholarships as discount coupons, not money. If the outside scholarship is paid directly to your bank account, you might be able to get away with using all of each because to NYU it looks like you are paying cash for the tuition payment. NYU will just apply all of what it awarded you and you can use the private scholarship for living expenses. If the private scholarship is paid directly to the school, there's no way NYU is just gonna cut you a check for the difference, especially if they tell you they won't.noroomfordoubt wrote:Hey y'all! Question about outside scholarships in case anyone has already had this conversation with Financial Aid: in my award letter, it says if I were to get an outside scholarship and it in combination with what NYU has given me were to exceed tuition costs, NYU would reduce the amount of their scholarship such that they'd combine to equal no more than tuition. Does anyone know if this is something they definitively do in practice? I'd ideally put money beyond tuition towards books/fees/COL, which is not exactly a drop in the COA bucket... this seems like a ridiculous thing for them to do, but I can also totally see them doing it, unfortunately.
Thanks in advance if anyone has experience with this!
