I feel stupid for waiting to hear back for their offer before submitting my other offers. I just thought that would come across as presumptuous/premature but I suppose I was wrong!jd20 wrote:No problem! Thanks for the heads up on this! Does anyone know who we email the other offers to? The financial aid main email?WordsworthIsBae wrote:I feel stupid for waiting to hear back for their offer before submitting my other offers. Hey everyone!
Checking in, just got accepted yesterday. I was wondering if there's some sort of facebook group for admitted students, and if anyone will be going to the upcoming Mondays with Columbia.

Just got my Columbia aid package. Was surprised by the amount. Equivalent to the Butler.

What would be considered peer schools for scholarship negotiation purposes? Would Duke, Northwestern, and Cornell work?

i would hope if they sent out email to international students then they mailed the snail mail. But I've been wrong before.... most notably on the LSAT.

I too have read/heard this somewhere and I'm really hoping that it's hearsay.Leliana wrote:I have heard that CLS only really considers Chicago, NYU, and maybe Penn as peers for negotiation. Is financial aid you get on top of scholarships (i.e. Butler/Hamilton), or do you get whichever is the higher amount (scholarship vs. need-based aid)?

If they sent out the first round via mail Monday (fingers crossed), it possibly could reach our mailbox today...right?? (Also crossing fingers they sprung for first class)Thelaw23 wrote:Ugh, I got excited. Back to my mail boxAFtoLawschool wrote:Damnit. I was hoping they switched to emails this year. It's strange to me that they do the decisions via a scanned and emailed letter, but the $$ via snail mail.NotAGolfer wrote: If they sent out the first round via mail Monday (fingers crossed), it possibly could reach our mailbox today...right?? (Also crossing fingers they sprung for first class)
Though, it is nice not worrying about refreshing my email every 3 minutes when I hear there's a wave going on.

Re: Columbia Class of 2020
Really hoping to get my merit aid letter before the end of the week. After visiting both NYC schools last week, it's about 99% certain that I am depositing at whichever of Columbia/NYU gives me more $ and then riding out the Harvard waitlist.
Uncertain times, but I'm looking forward to finally getting at least a deposit down.
It really is bizarre they can't email this, or at least scan a copy of the letter like they do for acceptances. The time crunch (from the prospective student's perspective) is more of an issue at this point in the cycle.

Totally agree. A ton of deposit deadlines are 4/1 or 4/15. Tough to make decisions when you don't have the necessary info.jb111 wrote:Really hoping to get my merit aid letter before the end of the week. I think it's even more strange that they email acceptances but only snail mail $$$.jb111 wrote:Really hoping to get my merit aid letter before the end of the week.
