Life-time New Yorker here, NYC is great and I can't be more excited to be going to school/living at Morningside Heights. As someone who went to undergrad in the financial district, I think it will be good for my grades to be away from midtown/the lower sides haha
I'll be there for the 1-2 March weekend. I don't think I'm going to dress up too much. My day will have started at like 4:00 in the morning because I'm flying into NYC the morning the events start. I think I'll be too lazy to wear much more than anything relatively comfortable.
Congrats on making it in BTW, I was rooting for you in the admissions forums. They certainly took a while with your decision!

Thanks, man! Yeah. After a year or two of studying there I might drop into the admission office and try to find out what the intrigue was haha. It doesn't seem often that someone applies in September, interviews in November, and doesn't hear back until now. Either way, I couldn't be more happy.
I hope to see you at the admitted student days fam

PM if you have any questions about NY or the spots around there.

For those of you in NY, do you plan attending the whole event? I'm thinking about just coming after work. Any point in that?

I'm probably gonna take off. Isn't it weird they have it on Wednesday/Thursday? Would be better Sat/Sun...

Yea would be much more convenient but I guess they want to do it when the school is open.

I'm taking the days off too. And yeah, I agree, it's probably because there's more going on during the week at the school.

Hey guys! Good to meet you all.
I'm an international and was admitted in the Jan 20 wave. Are other internationals also filling up the entire financial aid application? What do internationals historically get? Any non-Hammy / Butler grants?

I thought it said the pin code for the housing application will be sent in March?
I'm talking about the Columbia ID for the FAQ
I honestly sent it in without the id and wrote to them that I don't have it.

Is anyone thinking about going to the Columbia and NYU admitted students days the same weekend? Does anyone do a day and a half at each, or how do people handle that? I want to go to all of both, but this may make more sense...

This is me, I am on Amtrak from DC in the morning at 4am. I think I will wear jeans, button down and a blazer.

I posted this in the waiters thread too, but would anyone be interested in grabbing a drink the night of the 1st after the program? We could do a TLS meetup.

Has anybody seen long response times from the financial aid office? I sent them an email with a question on Monday and still haven't heard back. Guess I"ll just call them later on today.

I actually emailed them asking for it and they told me that entering students don't need to fill out page 3 of the FAQ (and therefore don't need it). So you should be good!

It took them a week to respond to me earlier this month.

From what I've heard Columbia can be stingy with Merit Aid, especially non Butler or Hamilton Aid. Have others experienced/heard similarly?
Related but different topic, is anyone else looking into Institutional Loans? I don't have too much info yet on their prevalence but would consider as an International Student.
I've heard the same, though they definitely still give some out. Looks like they start releasing scholarship info very early April normally.
Good stuff, fingers still crossed then.
