hi friends -
have any early acceptances heard from financial aid? from what I understand of the HLS award packages page, even super low income students can expect to take out the base loan of 48k yearly, aka have loans of 144k+ total (unless you use less on personal expenses/rent/etc) - am i interpreting correctly?

Definitely not controversial if you haven't been rude or posted anything terribly controversial on TLS haha! Hoping to meet you all in person soonnotorious_mig wrote:AHHH I'm so pleased thank you so much this is so excitinggaleatus wrote:Oh no it's not controversial at all! That's how I understood it. Cost of Attendance - expected contribution + 48k loans=Need Based Grants. It really sucks too that you're expected to spend literally all of your liquid assets before even taking out the loanscandidatesoup wrote:hi friends -

It does, but I think it's supposed to protect the student.CenterFringe wrote:That's how I understood it. Cost of Attendance - expected contribution + 48k loans=Need Based Grants. Anyone know things about how much Harvard'll help with travel costs for the admitted students weekend? It'd be pretty fun to go but I'd need help to do it.

This has probably increased by now, but in years past it seemed to cap around ~$300 and that was coast-to-coast.LikelyThrowaway wrote:Anyone know things about how much Harvard'll help with travel costs for the admitted students weekend? It'd be pretty fun to go but I'd need help to do it.

I'm about 50 miles from the Pacific so that'd be me. Thanks for the info.Nonconsecutive wrote:This has probably increased by now, but in years past it seemed to cap around ~$300 and that was coast-to-coast.LikelyThrowaway wrote:Anyone know things about how much Harvard'll help with travel costs for the admitted students weekend? Know a HLS student, and the e-mail accounts are really awkward, something along the lines of @jd.law.2020.harvard.edu. Not sure why. Make it @harvard.edu and the yield rate will double.pretzeltime wrote: THAT'S HOW THEY GET YA! the email account is a far more shiny enticement to a millennial than any keychain or tshirt could ever be.
