Does anyone know if you can apply for the housing lottery but later choose not to take anything? I think I'd maybe prefer to live off campus in non-university housing, but I'm unsure.
Also, who else is thinking non-harvard housing?

Yeah, my understanding is that you can look at your options when it's your turn and if you don't want any of them you don't have to take em.HonestlyThough wrote:Does anyone know if you can apply for the housing lottery but later choose not to take anything? Since you seem to know the area, do you mind me asking if there are any "must avoid" zones?R. Jeeves wrote:Same. Already live in non-harvard housing located very close to H square. How does one find roommates? Just through the roommate tab on the housing portal? Or through the facebook page? How are y'all doing it.

I just signed a lease for an apartment in Beacon Hill. I definitely want the Cambridge during the day, and Boston in the night/weekends lifestyle.HonestlyThough wrote:Does anyone know if you can apply for the housing lottery but later choose not to take anything? i'm attempting to apply for Harvard University Housing (not HLS housing) or private off-campus housing. Do people know of good ways to find roommates? i've been out of school for three years, so i can't go back to dorm life!

My gf (a 1L) found roommates through the FB group. She set up a brunch to meet other people living in her city, then hit it off from there.kiwi50 wrote:i'm attempting to apply for Harvard University Housing (not HLS housing) or private off-campus housing. One *major* note about living off-campus: almost all leases in the area start either June 1 or September 1. As our classes start August 30, we are shit out of luck for the first 2 days of school if we pick places starting September 1, or we're paying an extra 3 months of rent for places starting June 1.

Yeah I'm 29. Neither want dorm life nor a messy roommate, but roommate might be unavoidable. Unless of course there's a way around the 180k.kiwi50 wrote:i'm attempting to apply for Harvard University Housing (not HLS housing) or private off-campus housing. For those who received their financial aid awards, how did you get it (through HLS email, personal email, etc.)? And about how long did it take after you got the email that your finaid application was complete?AnonHumanPerson123 wrote:Has anyone received their financial aid award yet?

Hey y'all I finally tracked down the URL of the Google spreadsheet of 3L pass-down housing I promised a while back!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
NOTE: You have to have accepted your HLS offer to view the spreadsheet, as you have to have a "current student" account to view it rather than an "admitted student" account.

Re: Harvard Law School - Class of 2020
Got an email about HBX Credential of Readiness (CORe). Anyone thinking about doing this program?
Also --- anyone have experience living off-campus, not in the immediate area? I have a family, so trying to find semi-affordable housing. It looks like I'll be a bit away from Cambridge, but I figure it won't be too bad as long as I'm near the red line. Anyone know of good areas, or areas to avoid?

I'm definitely thinking about doing the program.I don't really have any background or experience in business.GorillaWarfare wrote:Got an email about HBX Credential of Readiness (CORe). Anyone thinking about doing this program?

I don't know anything about the areas, I am moving with my spouse and dog, so I am a little worried about options for housing. I did have a friend who commuted around an hour to Harvard (for a different grad program). I know it really wore her out and made it hard to work with other students and build relationships. I'm guessing you aren't planning on being that far away, though.
