I'm definitely living alone my 1L year, but I actually just contacted StudentSpace to see what kind of help they can offer.TudoBem wrote:so, where are you all living this fall? Regents? Shoreland? Algonquin? Did you find a roommate?
Algonquin is the least expensive but it looks like it's not 1L's favorite. any thoughts?

Regents! Already signed the lease on a 3br with two housemates. It was such a 'shit just got real' momentTudoBem wrote:so, where are you all living this fall? Regents? Shoreland? Algonquin? Did you find a roommate?

Me. I emailed admissions earlier this morning since it's way past the May 5th timeframe that was given on the fb group, and got a reply saying they had sent out my reimbursement on the 8th. Might be a good idea to reach out to them to just to make sure it's on the way.bloomsday wrote:Is anyone else still waiting for their ASW reimbursement?

I am living with non-law student U of C grad students but havent looked at leases since a lot of housing turns over in September and none of us are in Chicago over the summer.TudoBem wrote:so, where are you all living this fall? Regents? Shoreland? Algonquin? Did you find a roommate?

yesss honestly the students i stayed with swayed me to live there (that and im from california so knowing i can obtain food and exercise without going outside is... disturbingly comforting). also the process for leasing and such was very very easyTudoBem wrote:Niiice! Do any of y'all know when we're expected to receive our student loan packages? I know today is the priority deadline to get the FAFSA in, but I didn't see a projected date.

Re: UChicago Class of 2020
Hi all,
Admit from the 10th circuit here. Super excited to meet everyone in the Fall. I have a question - is anyone else bringing their car to hyde park and trying to figure out street parking? My understanding is that you don't need a permit to street park in Hyde Park. Has anybody heard anything about parking in Hyde Park. I'm definitely bringing my car, so I can't be convinced not to bring it at this point
Thanks!

For anyone looking to live alone, I found a good deal on a 430 sq ft studio for $952 a month at 5528 S. Cornell. I think they might have units still. It's a Mac Property. I had to ask about this one as no one from the leasing office told me about it when I told them I was looking for a studio under $1000.KMart wrote:regents isn't too bad and the fact it's the most popular building is pretty nicelawlzschool wrote:yesss honestly the students i stayed with swayed me to live there (that and im from california so knowing i can obtain food and exercise without going outside is... disturbingly comforting). also the process for leasing and such was very very easyTudoBem wrote:Niiice! Anyone apply for federal loans yet? I checked my UChicago email and noticed that I had a financial aid letter award in my inbox, but am unsure whether or not I should start applying for loans yet.

It wasn't for FAFSA; I submitted that information beginning of March. It's another financial aid award letter with the 2017-2018 student budget numbers and the actual amount for my PLUS Loan after scholarships and the unsubsidized loan is factored in, but I'm unsure whether or not I should actually be submitting my loan application for the Grad PLUS Loan, or if I should be waiting for explicit instructions from financial aid hahaha. Sorry, I've never applied for federal loans before, so I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to all of this.

Have people received their financial aid award letters yet? I got a merit scholarship letter in April, submitted my FAFSA in may, but I haven't heard anything from them about need based aid/financial aid.
