recently quit drinking for about 2 months straight, and it really isn't bad at all. The initial awkwardness of going out sober passes pretty quickly and you can still have fun. Downside is being less tolerant of your friend's shenanigans and maybe picking up girls (I would just feel weird being sober if they were drinking but idk do you)amta wrote:i am already trying to drink less. would very much like to cut it out completely, im just not as committed to quitting social drinking as i could be.guybourdin wrote:I need to do some kind of physical activity. Yeah, that's the thing. Like, I can/have stopped drinking and its not a big deal. When I'm out, I like a drink, though, so getting to that point where everyone else is drinking and I would like a drink but just deciding to get something else is that last hump. I think the possibility of casually saving maybe a grand/year is pretty cool, though, and could be helpful to think about it that way. idk.amta wrote: i am already trying to drink less. would very much like to cut it out completely, im just not as committed to quitting social drinking as i could be.
I rarely go out, am already intolerant of shenanigans, and am not a huge fan of the drunk pick up to begin with! Should be easy for me. Also, I'm a blast, obviouslythatlawlkid wrote: recently quit drinking for about 2 months straight, and it really isn't bad at all. Start posting really right wing views, get into it with someone, await the pile on, then demand a perma.chandhi wrote:I'm too niceamta wrote:start a fight with EP or Boo, obviously.chandhi wrote: yes I just need to find a good reason to rage quit

Form: working out regularly (started doing this a few months ago and want to keep it up), eating healthy, going to bed earlier and waking up earlieramta wrote:what is a habit yall are trying to break before law school? what is one you are trying to form?
personally, i need to quit dipping and binge watching shameless.
I would like to start getting up earlier. ideally 6am.
Break: binge drinking, procrastinating household tasks (need to learn how to crank out meal prep, laundry, etc. quickly)

I'm in a good spot as far as habits go, my major concern is adapting my current ones from a 9-5 job to a more flexible law school schedule. So mostly I'll be trying to maintain my routine of waking up at the same time every day, gym 3-4x/week, laundry 1x/week, etc...

I'm also praying that I'm still vaguely literate. Been out of school for 2 years and don't do much substantive writing at my job so I might have become a dumb at some point.

worrying about being illiterate after being out for a few years combined with impostor syndrome is the real stress.thatlawlkid wrote:I'm also praying that I'm still vaguely literate. oh wow I'm so glad that there's a name for the crazy doubts I've been having. Yeah this is me x1000. I constantly feel like I'm overshooting way too far and the only reason was because I was reasonably good (read: not good enough for hikko) at a test.guybourdin wrote:Like you don't actually belong there/everyone else is smarter or more deserving than you in some way, etc. I'm a fraudthatlawlkid wrote: imposter syndrome?

there's probably some decent books on the subject if this is something you are seriously experiencing in a bad way. We're about to be in totally unknown territory, though, so I'd imagine a little bit of this type of feeling is healthy.thatlawlkid wrote:oh wow I'm so glad that there's a name for the crazy doubts I've been having. I've never been graded on a curve before, so this'll be interesting, to say the least. I'm kind of excited, but, yeah, also may be found out.

I need to stop procrastinating doing household chores (ie cleaning).amta wrote:what is a habit yall are trying to break before law school? what is one you are trying to form?

I would like to start getting up earlier. ideally 6am.
Mostly, though, I just need to maintain my good habits, like working out regularly and getting enough sleep. My alarm goes off at 5:15 on week days right now, and so I should be good to go when law school starts. We'll see, though...

I'm trying to learn how to spend less money now so it's not such a shock when school starts. Trying to stay under $100/week for miscellaneous items (like takeout). I've done well the last few weeks but I also ate easy Mac and peanut butter crackers for lunch today so I don't think I'm doing it right.
