Financial aid email is fine. That will get you the fastest response. I would hurry up and send ASAP if you expect to get an updated offer by the deposit deadline.

Do they send a confirmation if you email that address, or do we just wait and hope. :D

They have a generic email (at least I assume it was generic) they send where they explain that you might have to wait until the scholarship committee reconvenes or something like that and explain that you need to submit offer letters. Good luck!

Thanks! I'm likely going to attend Duke regardless of how the negotiation shakes out. This is really an attempt to see if I can get my offer increased. Maybe not the best strategy but unavoidable due to the compressed timelines.

I got my deadline extended. I'm visiting later this month. Do you think it would be better to wait until after I visit to ask for scholarship reconsideration? I'm thinking I'll have many more reasons to discuss.

There was a mention in the 2019 thread about them exceeding the scholarship budget at some point so it may be risky. Enjoy your visit though!

I sent my scholarship negotiation email in a few days ago and haven't gotten a response (not even the typical we received your email response). Is that normal?

I'm actually expecting a denial since I outperformed my numbers, but a few thousand more would make all of my worries go away 8)

My award is already pretty high so I wasn't expecting an increase tbh. and my competing offer wasnt really a peer.

The first mention in the 2019 thread about "running out of budget" was for people wondering about scholarships coming off the waitlist on May 20. So not in April probably, but apparently sometime between deposit day and May 20. Hope that helps!

Anyone else afraid of being bored out of their mind for the next three years in Durham? I visited and it seemed like there was really not much to see, given I'm from a very big city...

I think one of the things that's keeping me from depositing (despite waiting for my scholly negotiation) is hesitation of life in Durham. Thoughts?
I did visit during the week so it might be different during a weekend. Anyone share my fear of boredom

Sure Durham isn't NY, but it does have a lot. And if you want more of a city, you have Raleigh 20 minutes away. In fact, the amount of museums, parks, gardens, and other things to do within a 15 minute drive is actually amazing.

Plus, at least for the first year, you aren't going to have too much time to go out and do a ton of stuff anyways.

the Triangle (the area consisting of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) has plenty to do. I honestly think it's the perfect setting for a university student. also, being in a city like NYC is not gonna put me in the mood to get on the grind and study.

Anyone know how they notify you about an updated scholarship offer after negotiation? Is it snail mail like the original offer?

They send an email, but also follow up with an updated offer via mail.

YMMV though. I had a scholarship deadline at another school, which may be why they emailed me mine.
