oh I agree - tons of opportunities to help people. I just meant, in my experience you can just walk into an animal shelter and be like, need anyone to walk some dogs? and be out walking in all of five minutes. you also don't have to interact with people and its easy work. Likely not the most important or impactful thing you could with your afternoon, but its something. Again, in my experience, there's a bit more leg work to start volunteering in a soup kitchen.HennessyVSOP wrote:soup kitchens and food drives always needs folks to volunteerguybourdin wrote:There's almost no way I hit this insanely low community service bar I've set hereSAD.

Have been looking for volunteer opportunities for about 20 minutes now and so many require a six month/year-long commitment... ugh

4 hours starting TODAY or does it include all the community service hours we've done since the beginning of this monthguybourdin wrote:if anyone actually wants to do this, I'll OP everyone's avi who completes 4 hours of community service by the end of the month. y'all can make up your own titles and if people want the same title we can have a run off (High Chancellor of the Underworld is going to be hotly contested I would imagine; Dr. Degrees can prob just have treasurer, though). Honor system, more or less, but don't be a terrible lying scumbag asshole because it'll come back, I'm sure.

today, but, again, honor system and if you've been doing community service and can't get to it in the next couple weeks, I wouldn't be upset (and, whothefuckami?) if I found out otherwise.ldlestrange wrote:4 hours starting TODAY or does it include all the community service hours we've done since the beginning of this monthguybourdin wrote:if anyone actually wants to do this, I'll OP everyone's avi who completes 4 hours of community service by the end of the month. y'all can make up your own titles and if people want the same title we can have a run off (High Chancellor of the Underworld is going to be hotly contested I would imagine; Dr. Degrees can prob just have treasurer, though). Re: TLS Class of 2020 Destinations Thread [NEW POLL]
I've been a volunteer at my local animal shelter for a couple years and had to commit to a minimum of one year, interview, and complete 4 different training sessions before I could even start. This probably isn't the case at all animal shelters, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them had similar requirements (probably trying to filter out the weirdos/people who aren't well-equipped to handle animals)guybourdin wrote:oh I agree - tons of opportunities to help people.
