I've heard The Biltmore is where law students tend to congregate most, so if we're trying to get the authentic UVA Law experience that might be the move. And I'd also join the groupme

I think someone said they did that last year in the "ask a law student/grad" section, so I definitely think it would be a good idea

Honestly, my first instinct was the Biltmore, i just feel like if I end up at UVA (I know you two are definites), then maybe trying something non-traditional would be the way to go. Anyway, list in the next post...

Beer Run
This is apparently a Faculty Favorite, so I'm a touch wary.
This establishment features hundreds of beers and wines. Tons of outdoor seating. Closes at midnight on weekends, earlier on weekdays.

The Biltmore
This is noted as a Student Favorite
Popular with college (including undergrad) students. Open until 2 a.m.

Commonwealth Restaurant and Skybar
Another Student Favorite.
Good idea if we want good food, I suppose, with a separate rooftop bar.

Kardinal Hall
Alpine-inspired beer hall and garden, features 24 draft beers and offers indoor and outdoor seating.

Mas Tapas
Noted as both a Faculty and Student Favorite
Spanish tapas restaurant with an extensive bar menu. Pitchers of sangria.

Maya
Another Student Favorite
Maya serves food until 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 p.m. on weekends. The bar stays open until 2 a.m.


Rapture
Bar open until 2 a.m.

Sedona Taphouse
500 craft brews on tap. So much beer, fam. Plus it's near the Days Inn which is where the thrifty folk are likely staying.

The Virginian
A UVA institution, open until 2am. Get wrecked.

Zocalo
Both a Faculty and Student Favorite
Another place if we want dinner and drinks. Outdoor patio.

Alright poll is up.

I gave everyone the option to vote for two different bars. The idea being, if you're an ADD bar hopper (like myself) it can be nice to start out somewhere like Sedona conveniently close to the law school and the hotels so a lot of people can join up and have a beer or two...say from from 9-11. Then there can be a secondary "hard-core degens" push to somewhere like the Biltmore or the Virginian until 2AM.

Just some ideas. Vote away!

Alright everybody...just finished setting up an un-official class Facebook page. The name of the group is "UVA Law Class of 2020 Lawhoos". You should be able to search for that name and request membership.

We are keeping this group closed to only those individuals who are definitely joining the Class of 2020 (and free from adcomms--it would be nice to be a little more casual as we all get to know each other). Should be a good forum for roommate discussions, organizing ASW dinner/bar outings, etc.

If you're already a member of the official Facebook page, I'd ask that you not telegraph on that page that there's a new (I think, better) option now. Not trying to be sketchy or hide anything, but also not interested in bringing any deans' or profs' eyes on us either. Thanks.

Does 90-95% count?

I'd ask that people who join the FB page be 100%. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide if that applies in your case or not. But, I think everyone would prefer to avoid having dozens of non-UVA lurkers on the page come 2018-2020. Gotta keep our softball strategy classified.

UVA current student who was bored before class chiming in:

I'd suggest start at kardinal hall and then go to bilt. Kardinal hall has good beers/wines, food, outdoor seating, and games. It's a good, fun place to drink while also being able to hear the person next to you.

Bilt gets going after 10. I don't think you'd want to be there before that, but you'll definitely find other current law students there.

I'd avoid rapture unless you're going with the law school (it's kind of clubby and usually full of townies) and the undergrad bars after like 10 on Th/Fri/Sat because they get full of undergrads. Commonwealth is fairly expensive (for charlottesville) but it has a nice sky deck.
