Re: Vanderbilt Law Class of 2019
Vandy 2L here. First off, congratulations to you all! Below I copy and pasted my post from the other thread. I would echo what Big Red said. Negotiation almost certainly won't work (99%), but if you want to go for it then do it, nothing to lose.
"The Dean's Scholarship and the Dean's Leadership Award are two different things. I got the Dean's Leadership Award as part of my scholarship package and know several other people who did as well. I can't see any pattern in the people that received them, so I can't really help on that front. But for those of you who got it, it definitely comes in handy for the summer. I did the Vanderbilt in Venice program for the first half of the summer. It covered essentially all of my tuition for that. I know other people who used it as a stipend to live on during the summer, when student loans have pretty much run out. Congrats to all you receiving scholarship offers! Just FYI, Vandy really doesn't negotiate. A lot of my classmates tried to negotiate during our cycle, and I haven't met a single one who was successful in that regard. But hey, there's a first time for everything, so if you feel moved to try, then give it a shot!"

Is anyone who's coming for the ASP in March interested in some trivia at a local brewery on Thursday? The Jackalope has trivia night from 8-10pm, which shouldn't get us in too much trouble for the long grind on Friday.

Hi all- happy to be checking in. Vandy's a top choice and I'm digging what I've read about the school and nashville so far. Also that clerkship%

Has anyone started seriously looking into housing options?

I have. I'm looking at the Americana and Lee apartments. Both look like great locations, but the Lee has some serious complaints about management. I definitely want to live within walking distance as a 1L.lawschoolletsgo wrote:Has anyone started seriously looking into housing options?

What about negotiating with a higher score? Any thoughts on that, anyone?lfk43 wrote:Vandy 2L here. First off, congratulations to you all! Below I copy and pasted my post from the other thread. Got about $40k more than my mylsn research indicated. All these southern schools are showing me so much love (besides California). I saw a shirt in the Austin airport which read "Not Cali" -- I couldn't agree more.

I'm coming up a day early for ASD to look at some places. Probably have to pay more than I want to if I'm going to live within reasonable range of the school.lawschoolletsgo wrote:Has anyone started seriously looking into housing options?
You can get approval for an ID and then use the grad student housing referral service.

It looks like Vanderbilt jumped UCLA in the rankings and is now #16. Not that it matters at all.

Re: Vanderbilt Law Class of 2019
Anyone else find it interesting that lots of people got their Vandy scholarship offers during the Texas ASD? Something tells me that was very deliberate and was the evil work of master-admissions-guru Dean Spivey.
I just up Texas reciprocates during the upcoming Vandy event.

Seems like everyone is going to the March one. I don't even know if I'll make either now, but I'll definitely be up there Easter weekend looking at apartments, checking out campus, and taking in some of the local breweries.BirdLawExpert wrote:March! The Abyss wrote:You going to the March or April one?BirdLawExpert wrote: <3

Got money from Vandy and it was a solid offer BUT tried to negotiate and IT WORKED! definitely surprised considering the TLSers saying it doesn't happen and Vandy's initial letter saying it doesn't work. Definitely keeping them in my top 2 still. Moral of the story: nothing to lose by shooting your shot
