Re: Senioritis / Quitting-my-job-soon-ioritis
So this morning my manager comes over to me acting all weird and quiet-like and says, "Can I talk to you about something?" I figure she's somehow gotten wind of my plans or is realizing I've been mentally checked out for months.
"We have the opportunity to bring in a lot of revenue for our team... if we take on the Trump campaign as a client."
My immediate response was "If you're asking if I'd work on this, my answer is NO."
She assures me that she's not comfortable with it either and she won't make anyone work on the business who doesn't feel comfortable, but the top brass really wants us to take it and she's not sure what to do because it would be like 40% of our quarterly revenue target from a single client.
I personally need a shower just thinking that my salary might be coming from the same pot that Trump dollars are going into.
So basically I'm thrilled to be giving my notice in 8 days.

I have a very good friend that works as an executive assistant at a marketing agency that handles the Trump campaign in some capacity; apparently the owner and Trump are friends. She makes fun of it a lot, but she just graduated and a job is a job haha.

A job is a job, but I just feel that Trump kinda transcends the normal spectrum of people I agree with and disagree with. If this were any other right-winger's campaign, not matter how vehemently I disagreed with them, it would still be my job to run the ads and get the best results possible. Hell, this could be Paul Ryan and I would still suck it up and do my job. But Trump isn't a politician and he doesn't have a platform. He's just spewing hate speech and stirring up racial violence in this country, and I can't have a hand in spreading his message. Bad people are allowed to perpetuate their agendas in this country because decent people decide that money is money and take it happily, and I'm disappointed that my company has turned out to be another one of those.BirdLawExpert wrote:I have a very good friend that works as an executive assistant at a marketing agency that handles the Trump campaign in some capacity; apparently the owner and Trump are friends. I have personally always been the "a job is a job type person" but I think I would draw the line at working for a trump campaign. i am right there with you. I wouldn't be able to do it

Cotton is awful. Everyone knows you go with wool #Icebreaker, or a not super stinky cause it's treated synthetic like those ones ex officio makes.BirdLawExpert wrote: Not sure how it works for girls, but for guys, cotton underwear is going to be better for long travel, because it doesn't start to smell like the popular synthetic/under armour type boxer-brief.

Buddies bike around Vietnam for a few weeks rocking those. I promise it's not too hot for the summer. Also, it feels like the hands of angels. For realsies, if you haven't tried them, you need too.

I only have 6 weeks left, which I expected to be fairly easy, but then Brexit happened. And I work in foreign exchange.

Rooting for Die Mannschaft right here! It's going to be interesting to see what happens should Italy prevail over Spain...Hildegard15 wrote:I am!! Go azzuri!!Oskosh wrote:Is anybody watching the European Cup?

Italy will prevail! Gigi Buffon is bae. Though right now I've hopped on the Wales train and plan on riding that as far as it will take me. Most likely that glorious run will end when Belgium takes them on in the quarters. All the European heavy hitters seem to be on the same side of the bracket this year. What a crazy tournament. I love it!!Oskosh wrote: Rooting for Die Mannschaft right here! It's going to be interesting to see what happens should Italy prevail over Spain...
