So I have a hefty weekly report due to a client in an hour and I'm sitting here taking apart mini pretzels into little curvy sticks

I just noticed the free barrels of pretzels have magically reappeared in my office after months and months of being MIA. I credit this solely to your post.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT MY OFFICE.

I'm generally against posting for the sole purpose of making others jealous, but I can't help but mention that my office has free chip bags (lays, chex mix, sun chips, etc.), sodas (all kinds), cliff bars, popcorn, oatmeal, tea, fruit... I could go on. We also get all sorts of goodies from our Court Reporter Service (yesterday it was brownies, last week cake). It's really making the wait to go to law school so much easier.

Back when I worked for a massive oil and gas company, we got free shitty coffee and that was fucking it. All of my friends work for startups where they have like ball pits and buffets and masseuses, meanwhile if I want coffee that doesn't taste like watered-down ass I have to walk three blocks to the nearest cafe. Part of me wants to go into environmental regulatory work just to shut those assholes down for being dicks to their employees, but I know that's petty so I tell people I care about the environment or whatever.

One of my friends in college was convinced that since we were going into the military he wouldn't have to pay taxes. When our commander told him how stupid he was being he said, "nobody that works for the government pays taxes! How do y'all not know this?"

His parents live out in the hill country fifty miles from anyone and we're pretty sure they're doomsday preppers.

yeah it suddenly got windy and cold here. not tornadoes though.

We got a bunch of sand, put it in oil drums that we had cut the top and bottom off of and placed right in front of the schools main entrance on our late arrival day. When they moved the barrels the sand spilled everywhere and a bunch of us got lawn chairs and hung out in bathing suits. They made us clean it up but it was a good way to waste a morning.

This is amazing. A couple of guys in the year above me tried to pull a prank but took it way too far and basically burned the security guard shack to the ground. They got arrested at graduation practice.

I really hope this is the case. Picturing the two of you peering over the edges of your cubicles and locking eyes. It's so beautiful. yeah, you work in Office Space in my imagination. Deal with it.

Yeah, we weren't going to risk graduation privileges. I was an aide for the principal senior year, and I asked her how she felt about pranks one day. Her response was, "as long as nobody gets hurt and you clean it up without missing class, you won't get in serious trouble. Other than that this conversation never happened." During the TAKS test (Texas standardized testing) seniors don't show up until like 1pm, but everyone else gets there around 8. We figured it'd be a nice way to cheer up the underclassmen and pull a prank without pissing our parents off. I appreciate that you guys all thought it was a solid prank, because we had a great time pulling it off!

I've decided to learn German before law school starts, because if understanding any culture will help me with the strict legal nature of law school, it has to be German. Also (mostly) because I'm dating a girl that speaks German and if I learn German we can talk about people in public and mess with people at bars.

Anyone else pursuing a ridiculous task to help pass the time? Anyone have any idea how to learn German other than Duolingo?

Oh dear lord, good luck & have fun - I tried learning German but the 3-gender and 4-case system utterly defeated me so I turned to French instead - at least with 2 genders, you get a 50/50 chance of guessing it right!!

I actually bought one of those intro German courses with books + tapes.

Also, you support Tottenham?! I suppose we'll have to briefly become sworn enemies whenever there's an Arsenal vs. Tottenham game going on
