Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
So I sent an email to the hotline asking about scholarships for those that received a feeler email and they sent me what felt like a very generic answer telling me that they were hoping to send other offers "in the next few days" (it's Friday tho...)

Got notice that I'm a scholarship "alternate." Got a feeler in the first wave. Withdrew.

Would talking about full rides at lower schools help in getting something?

Wow, that's a thing? That's so surprising, especially with those stats.Egzon wrote:Same. Above both 75ths.gamerish wrote:Got notice that I'm a scholarship "alternate." Got a feeler in the first wave. Withdrew.

I'm also international (US undergrad) and I can say that it has played a role in my cycle (it seems like it at least)...jtg21 wrote:Wow, that's a thing? Just got told I will not be receiving any $$ after receiving a feeler email. Promptly withdrew. Georgetown's feeler system is awful and I feel like it only further emphasizes their stingy-ness. Not a good move on their part!

Just got notice that I wouldn't be getting merit aid, too. Also received a feeler email. Ridic.

You should still try if you want to! The worst they can do is say no!darlenealderson wrote: wow, all of these people getting $0 makes me think it isn't worth it to negotiate...

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
So I have a couple questions re: merit aid. Sorry if these have been answered before but I skimmed through this thread and couldn't figure it out so...sorry
1. Does notifying them of interest super useful/is it common practice? I haven't received a feeler email but I was admitted mid-December, relatively quickly after I applied, so I thought I had a decent chance at merit aid. I'm wondering if I somehow messed this up by not inquiring about scholarships?
2. Has anyone that applied to PILS gotten a feeler email/any merit aid offers? I've been wondering if maybe they're waiting to see if I get that before offering any aid....but maybe I'm just deluding myself?
Thanks!

1. I would notify them if you didn't receive a feeler, others ITT have.PrincessUnikitty wrote:1. Does notifying them of interest super useful/is it common practice? 2. I applied to PILS and got both the feeler and an offer. I'm not sure whether that's because I'm an auto-deny for PILS or whether they just do things separately from them, but it definitely isn't set up that if you apply to PILS you get no offer initially from admissions, at least as far as I can tell.

PILS is considered separate from regular merit offers from what I understand from former and current PILS people I have spoken to. The PILS director has another job at the school that has nothing to do with admissions and she reviews and decides on the applications in consultation with current PILS and I believe PILS attorney mentors.darlenealderson wrote:1. I applied to PILS, no feeler, did get merit aid. Have a long public service background and got an RTK interview, so in the unlikely circumstance that PILS and admissions do communicate about not initially offering merit aid to those being considered for PILS, I have reason to believe I would at least be in consideration for PILS and one of those who had not yet received an offer.
Who knows though, I could be totally off base. PILS is such a black box. 8 slots for PI scholarships with no interview process at a PI heavy law school that has one of the largest classes in the T-14. They probably have 5 times the qualified applicants for PILS then they have funding.

Anyone who received an offer this week and replied to their email receive any type of response from them? I know they're still working through offers, but I wonder if I should follow up next week.

No response at all. When I asked for a scholarship they promptly responded with an email that didn't sound promising. I'm hoping that the lack of response means it's being considered?threatlevelmidnight wrote:Anyone who received an offer this week and replied to their email receive any type of response from them? I sent in a negotiation email the same day after getting an initial offer on Monday, but haven't heard anything back.threatlevelmidnight wrote:Anyone who received an offer this week and replied to their email receive any type of response from them? Also listed as an alternate.
My mind is pretty much made up on Georgetown, but was obviously assuming I would get some sort of aid. Would it work in my favor to just sign the intent to enroll form and pitch it to financial aid like "listen, I'm committed to coming here no matter what, still need help tho....." Or would that just give away my leverage? Don't have much leverage with other scholly offers anyway

Don't do that. Your negotiations will be over. Write them to tell 'm you'd be very excited to attend but need some kind of scholarship to make up your mind.tms95 wrote:Also listed as an alternate.

I got a response like that as well. It didn't sound promising and they suggested I apply for need based aid as well. I still figured it was worth a shot though.janderson821 wrote:No response at all.
