When I found out that I don't need surgery till August I was bummed because I was thinking I might as well just quit and wait for school if I were to get surgery this month.

Okay, y'all. I'm a little under the two-week mark and senioritis is starting to kick in hard, mostly because no one bothers to assign me anything since they know I'm learning and all I want to do is plan my move and my summer travel. Any hot backpacking tips before I buy every travel-sized gadget on Amazon?

Oh I can't help too much with that other than giving generic travel tips from when I travel alone. I will say travel light, if you don't have enough of something you can buy it there and save on weight for your gear. Not sure how it works for girls, but for guys, cotton underwear is going to be better for long travel, because it doesn't start to smell like the popular synthetic/under armour type boxer-brief. The most important thing is going to be comfortable shoes. If you're backpacking your feet are your primary mode of travel and you can't afford to sacrifice comfort for style.CJRpnw wrote:Backpacking like backpacking Japan!BirdLawExpert wrote:Backpacking like backpacking Europe or like backpacking the AT?CJRpnw wrote:Okay, y'all. If you're traveling alone, make sure someone knows generally where you're planning on being at any given time. This is more so that they can get in contact with you if they absolutely need to, but has the added benefit of giving you a lifeline in case things go wrong for whatever reason.
Also, keep some form of identification on your person at all times (ie, not in your backpack or purse). Your passport is ideal but I understand women's clothing is a little harder to carry things around than men's. The last thing you need while abroad is to prove who you are and have no way to do so.
Last thing, take pictures but don't let it get in the way of actually interacting. When I travel, I have a rule that I only take five pictures a day, otherwise I feel like I'm more concerned about posting on insta or snapchat than whatever else is going on.

Re: Senioritis / Quitting-my-job-soon-ioritis
Smart! I bought a giant battery pack to keep my phone charged, but keeping off Snapchat would probably help with that too. I also have some Keens and one of those cooling towels that will be making the journey with me. I am determined to be the most comfortable but least stylish person in Japan for the time I'm there.BirdLawExpert wrote:
