The forms aren't there on the patient portal, but they are available for the version you have to bring to your doctor here:maracuya wrote:I was able to log in using my HUID a couple weeks back, but the forms that were supposed to be on there weren't. I think you need to have a version signed by your doctor anyways, in addition to filling out the online forms. They accepted me submitting my vaccine record card instead of going to the doctor to fill out the forms though.

Thanks for the insight, I can't log seem to log on to the patient portal at all. I'll probably call them in the next few days.canadianellewoods wrote:The forms aren't there on the patient portal, but they are available for the version you have to bring to your doctor here:maracuya wrote:I was able to log in using my HUID a couple weeks back, but the forms that were supposed to be on there weren't. Anybody know about the likelihood of getting a Gropius room at this point? There are none available right now, but I would think some may become available as people cancel throughout the summer. Any insights?

You will most likely be able to get one before August.LS19 wrote:Anybody know about the likelihood of getting a Gropius room at this point? There are none available right now, but I would think some may become available as people cancel throughout the summer. Any insights?

I just finished the stranger by Camus, it was a good read. I'm down for book club, should we start a thread?EnderWiggin wrote:0L TLS Summer Book Club (not just for HLS) is something I could get behindcdotson2 wrote:Like group movie night?EnderWiggin wrote:Thoughts on watching The Paper Chase/reading One L before orientation?

I have watched/read them both and enjoyed each. I think it will be interesting to see the extent to which HLS will be different now. I would say go for it if you want, plus One L is a super quick read.EnderWiggin wrote:0L TLS Summer Book Club (not just for HLS) is something I could get behindcdotson2 wrote:Like group movie night?EnderWiggin wrote:Thoughts on watching The Paper Chase/reading One L before orientation?

If you're super bored, give One L a read. But the vibe I got is it just captures HLS culture that it's at least trying to move away from.EnderWiggin wrote:Thoughts on watching The Paper Chase/reading One L before orientation?

Oh for sure. Just thought it might be interesting as an incoming 1L. Other than Legally Blonde, those are probably the main reference points that inform popular conceptions of HLSslippin_jimmy wrote:If you're super bored, give One L a read. I watched the Paper Chase and thought it was really boring, but to each their own. If you want to watch great legal movies, I'd recommend My Cousin Vinny, and the Verdict. Inherit the Wind and 12 Angry Men are on my "To Watch" list.EnderWiggin wrote:Thoughts on watching The Paper Chase/reading One L before orientation?

I'd be interested to hear what other women think since so far the only people I've heard who actually like the Paper Chase are men. It was just way too "male coming of age" tale for me.jtg21 wrote:

I'm gonna have to google best legal movies and just watch all of them during my free time this summer.

Yeah, I wasn't that impressed by the Paper Chase either. I even tried watching the TV show since I had a lot of free time on my hands and wanted to see if I liked it any better than the movie. I liked it much, much less and gave up after two or three episodes. I haven't watched many legal TV shows or movies, so I'd love to hear everybody's suggestions too!Hildegard15 wrote:

A book / movie / tv discussion club that is better organized than the more random conversations in the off topic board posts would be awesome!mollywood wrote:Yeah, I wasn't that impressed by the Paper Chase either. Also, for what it's worth, I'm a guy who wasn't impressed with The Paper Chase outside of Houseman's performance as Prof. Kingsfield. They never really developed any of the characters enough to really care about them at all...So it just felt really repetitive and dragged the whole movie down.
Some TV and Movie recommendations off the top of my head:
- The Good Wife (at least up to the end of Season 5 / some moments in 6) was quite good for a procedural show generally, and tried to be fairly realistic. It definitely dealt with a bunch of timely issues both on a social / political and technological level.
- The People vs. OJ Simpson on FX was a lot better than what I was expecting, and it really focuses most of its attention on the trial itself. Obviously it was using actors and took some dramatic liberties, but some of the courtroom scenes are taken directly from the original court tapes / transcripts. There is also a documentary series on the trial coming out this summer made by ESPN's "30 for 30" series that is getting pretty good reviews already.
Movies besides the "usual suspects" - The Paper Chase / Legally Blonde/ The Verdict / To Kill a Mockingbird / Inherit the Wind/ My Cousin Vinny
- 12 Angry Men - probably the most well known one, more focused on the jury though.
- Anatomy of a Murder - this is fairly long and old, but its Jimmy Stewart...
- A Few Good Men - Tom Cruise as a cocky young lawyer in a movie written by Aaron Sorkin pre West Wing, where Jack Nicholson yelling "you can't handle the truth" comes from.
- The Firm - Tom Cruise as a cocky young lawyer again, I don't think this one's as good as the others, definitely not as realistic (adapted from a Grisham novel), but its definitely a well made film for what it is (Sydney Pollack directs, and Gene Hackman is amazing in it).
- Michael Clayton - another less realistic, but much more recent and less talked about Sydney Pollack legal thriller. George Clooney and Tilda Swinton give very good performances.
- Bridge of Spies - legal(ish) movie - more of a mix with Cold War spy movie - but Spielberg directs Tom Hanks as an insurance lawyer called to negotiate a prisoner exchange with the Soviet Union, based on a true story. Felt like it slipped under the radar last fall.
- Judgment at Nuremberg - another long (3+ hours!), older movie, well worth the watch for those interested in the Nuremberg Trials specifically / this mix of history and law. Made by Stanley Kramer, same director as Inherit the Wind.
- Philadelphia - Tom Hanks again, this time as a lawyer suing his firm for firing him when they find out he has AIDS. Denzel Washington plays the attorney who represents him.
- Kramer v. Kramer - Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman in a child custody battle.
- Erin Brockovich - based on a true story, Julia Roberts plays the title character, who succeeds in building the investigation into a polluting energy company.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019
^ I second the recommendation for The Good Wife! I felt that the show focused a little too much on the melodrama in the last seasonish, but I liked the way it dealt with more current social/political issues. The writing is also pretty snappy in general, and the cast (Juliana Margulies in particular) is fantastic.
Also, I agree that Michael Clayton was pretty entertaining/the acting was pretty superb. And Philidelphia is fantastic, though really depressing - the song Bruce Springsteen did for the movie gets me every time. I've gotta work through the rest of that list though!
And if anyone is looking for something a bit less substantive, there's also How to Get Away with Murder haha. Unrealistic and a bit much at times, but it's fun to watch. And Viola Davis is amazing.

Sorry for this tremendously boring aside, but has anyone figured out the health & immunization form issue?
I've got all the forms (which I grabbed off http://huhs.harvard.edu/health-forms-topics/forms ) signed. Should I just send these off?
It also seems that we have to upload the information or fill out these forms on Patient Portal, but the forms don't seem to be available here?

You can mail or fax your signed off forms. You'll receive confirmation from HUHS when that's done.sgtous wrote:Sorry for this tremendously boring aside, but has anyone figured out the health & immunization form issue?

There are also supposed to be forms uploaded on HUHS but I don't think they're there yet. Like when I click forms it says nothing is there or similar and I think that's the experience other folks have had.

Fuuuuuck I just looked through my army paperwork and realized that they did not give me ANY medical records before I got out. I called back to my previous duty station and was told that there was absolutely no record of me. Yikes.gamerish wrote:Did an email about the health plan go out? Has any of the international students fill out the source of support form and received a confirmation yet?
I am wondering how long it takes for them to confirm that they received the docs.

This sounds like the beginning of a movie about like, memory loss and nefarious government actors.Dcc617 wrote:
