The Incredibles: it doesn't matter if you have superpowers, you can't accomplish a mission without open and honest communication (also, punching your boss never works out well).schocolate wrote:Alright, friends, time to combine TLS and productivity: I'm writing a blog post about workplace lessons millennials can take from Disney/Pixar movies. Alternatively, you might be the best in the world at one particular thing, but that doesn't mean you'll succeed at everything. Failure is a natural part of your working life and should be learned from, not avoided.
Wall-E: just because you feel like you were designed for one thing doesn't mean that you can't serve a greater purpose in life (Wall-E). Just because you've never done something before doesn't mean you're incapable of accomplishing it (humans).
Toy Story 3: The only constant in life is change. If you surround yourself with people you love, you'll be more resilient and gain a greater ability to cope with that change (even if it involves the people you love).
Inside Out: If you're a leader, just because someone you're in charge of approaches a problem from a different angle than you doesn't mean that their opinions or contributions can be dismissed outright. More often than not you will gain a better idea of the problem at hand, and the subordinate as well, by talking through their approach and understanding the underlying philosophy behind said approach. Not only that, but by showing them that you value their contribution and don't just immediately dismiss it, you will gain their loyalty and get them to buy in on the final decision (even if it isn't their approach).
I've got a bunch more, but I don't know what the timeframe you're looking at is. Would newer stuff like Wreck-It Ralph or Big Hero 6 be included?

Haha no kids, but thanks! I worked as a camp counselor for a long time and have been a coach or a trainer for pretty much my whole life.Nachoo2019 wrote: I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you have kids lol. These are awesome!

Also, on that note and for full disclosure, I firmly intend to blog my Euro-trip ITT next month (flying to Switzerland first on July 1st!). 23 days, 17 working days left til I'm no longer a working man.

I started training my new guy today and have basically turned all of my operation over to him, all I have to do now is watch and make sure he doesn't drive my operation into the ground.

I'm really hoping my last 1-2 weeks here are precisely this, but seeing as I haven't heard a peep about my replacement yet, I'm not holding my breath. You've got a good thing going.Sonar80 wrote:I started training my new guy today and have basically turned all of my operation over to him, all I have to do now is watch and make sure he doesn't drive my operation into the ground.

You right. The best thing about my replacement is that he is REALLY competent, and I know it won't be hard to train him and I'll be able to go to cruise control.Bearlyalive wrote:I'm really hoping my last 1-2 weeks here are precisely this, but seeing as I haven't heard a peep about my replacement yet, I'm not holding my breath. This is awesome, thank you! I'm including Wreck-It Ralph and using it as an example of recognizing everyone who does their job well, not just the "sexy" positions/recognizing your importance to the team even if you don't have an exciting job.BirdLawExpert wrote:The Incredibles: it doesn't matter if you have superpowers, you can't accomplish a mission without open and honest communication (also, punching your boss never works out well).schocolate wrote:Alright, friends, time to combine TLS and productivity: I'm writing a blog post about workplace lessons millennials can take from Disney/Pixar movies. I stayed home "sick" today. By which I mean I'm sick of not being home with my cat.
