I have six weeks left after this one, but I think that at least one and maybe two of those will be spent training my replacement. That's not really work, right?

I have to teach tomorrow but I accidentally slept until 2 pm. Should I pull an all nighter or try and knock myself out with benadryl?

Totally unrelated to what was being discussed, but it seems like the robots are taking over:

Eh...I'm not too worried about it. Lawyers are one of the least likely fields to experience true automation pre-singularity according to one of those Stanford/MIT professors who developed some sort of index for this thing.EnderWiggin wrote:someone at work shared this with me recently. think it was a "lol your future career will be useless soon" shareLoney M. I agree; I think there's a lot involved in legal work that would be very difficult to replicate in robots within our lifetime. I just thought it was pretty amusing.BirdLawExpert wrote:Eh...I'm not too worried about it. Re: Senioritis / Quitting-my-job-soon-ioritis
Yeah, I remember reading the list and it having lawyers as like a 3% change of being replaced by technology. The list also said judges would have a 60% chance of being replaced, though, which really gave me the impression that whoever made the list has no idea what judges actually do... so while I'm still unconcerned about being replaced as a lawyer, I consider that list highly suspect.

also I couldn't imagine it growing too big, couldnt see them kicking lawyers out. Otherwise it would eventually be a single system you bring a case to and they decide all itself, no need to lawyers, judges, jury, etc.

Marty McFly: [Reading the newspaper from 2015] "Within two hours of his arrest, Martin McFly Jr. was tried, convicted and sentenced to fifteen years in the state penitentiary."? Within two hours?
Doc: The justice system works swiftly in the future now that they've abolished all lawyers.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
