OOH thanks. I'll look out for that, and call tomorrow if I don't hear. Thanks!!Topszn wrote:I emailed them because I actually thought I had fucked it up. Has anyone gotten the dorm selection window email? It was supposed to come yesterday, wasn't it?

I believe we are supposed to receive emails after 12 today (i.e. now). Did anyone receive emails on Friday after the deadline passed letting you know you were entering into the lottery?Steak n Potatoes wrote:Has anyone gotten the dorm selection window email? This thread needs to be more active.
Anyone here already familiar with the Boston area willing to help me figure out where to live that is not Cambridge, Somerville, Boston, or any of the usual locales? I'm fine with up to a 45 minute commute, and have heard nice things about Quincy, but I know nothing about anything Massachusetts generally.
Also, anyone reading anything this summer re: law school? I've heard good things about "1L of a Ride."

I'm from MA and have lived here my whole life (in Somerville now). I wouldn't really recommend Quincy or anything on the South Shore - they're not bad areas to live, but the commute to Harvard would be a pain and not worth it in my opinion. You're looking at a ~40min trip on the red line each way + travel time to and from the station. Driving would be even longer due to traffic on 93 (assuming you're heading in/out around rush hour).sfoglia wrote:This thread needs to be more active.

Is there any reason you don't want to live around school (i.e., cambridge, somerville, allston, etc.)? If cost is the concern, you can definitely find cheap/affordable housing in those areas.
Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions (or anyone else for that matter).

I think I got the 1st room selection window, which means I should be happy? I still don't know how the housing process works, but would prefer to live in the dorms because of convenience.

I got no room selection window...Now I don't know whether to give up on living in the dorms and try to find somewhere else or to stick it outOskosh wrote:I think I got the 1st room selection window, which means I should be happy? I got the seventh window. Does anyone know about the room selection process, and whether there are some dorms that are more ideal than others?

Interested in this as well if anyone could shed some light. More specifically, does anyone know what type of restrictions there are for the dorms in terms of appliances? Are we allowed to bring our own appliances ie mini fridge, microwave, or are we forced to rent itspammingrobot wrote:I got the seventh window. Guys, some enthusiasm here, please. The Columbia kids are practically throwing a party. (Which is good because they should enjoy it while they can, before they move to the most boring place in the world Morningside Heights.)

I wonder how many of us will end up in the same section? When do we find out what sections we are in, is that at orientation?
