Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Anyone know if it's possible to negotiate after GULC tells you "We are unable to offer you funding at this time"? I was admitted back in December and I'm a splitter so I wasn't expecting much, but definitely wasn't expecting zero. My reply to the scholly feeler made it clear GULC was my top choice so I'm kind of at a loss here. I searched through previous threads and didn't find anything about students who were able to negotiate $$$ despite being told "no". Any insight would be appreciated, I spent the last few months getting excited about Georgetown so this was a huge let down.

Has anybody had a phone conversation to follow up about a merit aid inquiry? Did it involve anything in particular for which you wish you had been prepared? Thanks in advance!

Personally, after living in DC and knowing my own habits - I'll be looking as close to campus as I can. There are some beautiful buildings in the immediate area/within walking distance - but they are pricey. If you're hoping to commute and save money, my advice would be to try to stay on the red line of the metro and make your life a little easier. To save some money nearby, you could try living in a shared townhouse or English basement on Capitol Hill. Sites I've been checking are zillow and craigslist - but I'd love to hear if anyone else knows of any others that are worthwhile!JuliusCaesar wrote:Can anyone provide some insight as to my housing search?lol Sites to check, areas to avoid, etc. I'm from the south so needless to say I don't understand the transit or the insane housing prices.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Hi guys,
I received my initial merit scholarship offer last week, and it was suprsisingly low considering that my LSAT is way above their 75th.
I had no choice but to submit the intent to enroll form yesterday.
Do you think it is still possible to negotiate the scholarship? what do you think could be the strategy if this is the only offer i have.
Many thx for help!

As long as you have other T14 acceptances, there's a possibility. Tell them that you'd really like to attend, but would need [X] more money to make it feasible. I was able to negotiate upwards all the way until June when I applied in 2013.lydia1121 wrote:Hi guys,

If you're looking for a place to stay this summer, my wife and I need to sublet our Capitol Hill house for two months. Rent is $900/month/person, minimum of two people (or $1800/month for one persons if that's how your roll). Utilities included.
There are three bedrooms (one fully furnished, two need mattresses or air mattresses) one bathroom. The location is halfway between the Capitol South and Eastern Market metro stops. Very safe, fun neighborhood. 20 minute walk to the law center.
Ideal dates are mid-June to mid-August but that's flexible.
PM me or call/text 918-557-4184 for details.

What's the deal with this "intent to enroll form?" Is that a scholly thing? I was under the impression it was deposit (or waiver) due May 2nd?lulzsec54 wrote:As long as you have other T14 acceptances, there's a possibility. They ask those who were offered $ to submit an intent to enroll form in order to accept their scholarship - the deposit/waiver is separate.letmeseeyoulurkit wrote: What's the deal with this "intent to enroll form?" Are any merit aid Alternates waiting to hear for an update about scholarships today? My email said they'd provide more info by Friday, 4/22, and I haven't heard anything yet.

I'd love an initial offer/notification. It's been a month and nothing.nyc15 wrote:Are any merit aid Alternates waiting to hear for an update about scholarships today? My email said they'd provide more info by Friday, 4/22, and I haven't heard anything yet.

Just got an email regarding financial aid. Sounds like they're waiting till the 25th for people to accept/decline so they can give more out. Said we should get an update on the 26th which will give us time to make a decision by May 2nd. Don't really know what to think lol

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
That sounds about right. On Tuesday I was offered a small scholarship and was given until the 25th to return the letter of intent. On Thursday I withdrew. Bittersweet as I wanted to go to Georgetown, but they didn't come close to matching what I requested. From the letters they've sent me and others they've made a lot of hay about how competitive this year has been. I'm guessing that's just boilerplate.Tiddlywinks wrote:Just got an email regarding financial aid. Sounds like they're waiting till the 25th for people to accept/decline so they can give more out. Anyone else get an email from Dean Cornblatt today about depositing? I'm still waiting for them to make an initial offer after the feeler email...
