I know people who were given money off of the waitlist. I would let it rest for now and maybe ask again a week after final deposit deadlines. You really have nothing to lose.benwyatt wrote:Most likely.archipm wrote:When Andy emails to tell you that there will be no! more! money!! that's the appropriate time to stop trying to negotiate right?
Also, I really hope the bolded is verbatim.

To be honest, I don't think that is something you'll be able to get from TLS, you're better off visiting the campus or speaking to students & alumni. I threw in a visit last fall because I was gonna be in DC, but I wasn't too psyched based on its rep on TLS. I ended up loving it more than any other school I visited and now I'm excited to attend. The TLS consensus might include people who have never stepped foot on the campus, and what good is that?Nolachicken wrote:Can someone give me the low down about Georgetown? I have been reading as much as I can, but I still feel like I'm not getting to the meat of the TLS consensus. I have not been seriously considering GULC, but I just got an amazingly fair need-based grant. What are the good things about the university and the bad? I don't plan on trying for big law in a huge market. If I decided to go non-government, it would be in my local market that the largest firms have less than 300 lawyers. As an older student, I want to get something out of law school. Meaning, good professors and learning opportunities.
I'm an older student as well so attending a school in a big city instead of a college town appealed to me. Since you mentioned good professors and learning opportunities are important, I will throw in that GULC's location means phenomenal faculty (one prof was even on a hypothetical list of SCOTUS nominees), and access to tons of great organizations.

Just got an updated scholly, more than double what they initially offered me, and I hadn't asked them to reconsider.

And I haven't even gotten a response from them in weeks on an initial offer. Do they at least notify you if you aren't receiving anything?BirdLawExpert wrote:+180ih8makingscreennames wrote:ARGH. Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Yeah, they do. You'll get a note that says something like "due to unprecedented demand and a limited scholarship budget, we are unable to offer you funding at this time. These things can change over the course of the spring and summer and if you wish to remain in consideration should funding open up in the future, we are more than happy to keep you in mind. We promise to be in touch if that happens, but at this time you should assume that we will not be able to offer you merit-based funding assistance and make plans with that in mind. We do appreciate your request. Please let us know if there is any other way we can help you as you make plans."OtterLaw wrote:And I haven't even gotten a response from them in weeks on an initial offer. Neither have I, and I replied to them over a month ago. I did speak with someone about it (aside from the boilerplate we received your email). Goodness this makes me hate them.

To those who have sent it in, should I have gotten or be expecting a confirmation of my intent to enroll form?

Got a pretty generous merit offer today. Not what I asked for, but about what I expected.
Only 6 days to consider it though

Did anyone else receive an email last Monday asking if you had any new information and closing with the statement that they would give a final decision "in the very near future"? I assumed that meant I'd hear last week, but I am still waiting on an initial offer (received a feeler email in February). This is really frustrating!

Received the feeler email months ago, received the email last Monday, responded to the email last Monday, and now asked to take part in the phone conversation as well..nyc15 wrote:Did anyone else receive an email last Monday asking if you had any new information and closing with the statement that they would give a final decision "in the very near future"? Got a merit offer today, but not sure how to manage negotiating prior to GW's deposit deadline of April 15 for accepting merit aid... Do I pay that deposit to buy myself more negotiation time??

Just email them saying you want to withdraw. Nothing about the intent to enroll form is binding. There isn't anything to maneuver since you're not attending.AMajorChord wrote:sent intent to enroll and now am not enrolling, how do i maneuver this?
