Has anyone had any luck sending in another need-based offer in order to get more money from Harvard? I just got my SLS award today and it's considerably higher than Harvard's.

I don't know if anyone has this year, but I feel like I remember reading on TLS that H will look at need based offers from S/Y. I think it's the only YHS negotiation around.spammingrobot wrote:Has anyone had any luck sending in another need-based offer in order to get more money from Harvard? I think it's also easier to negotiate w YHS on the amount of your debt burden, rather than the amount of your award, so that differences in cost of living are taken into account.slippin_jimmy wrote:I don't know if anyone has this year, but I feel like I remember reading on TLS that H will look at need based offers from S/Y. If you get a substantially larger offer from S or Y, you can send it to Harvard for reconsideration. Not a guarantee but it's certainly worth a shot.spammingrobot wrote:Has anyone had any luck sending in another need-based offer in order to get more money from Harvard? Tick tock clock, will I get an offer from you lovely, lovely people before tonight's NYU deadline?

Oh no! When did your financial aid app go complete? I got my package on Tuesday (went complete on 4/8). Definitely try calling them to check on the status? I called them yesterday to ask a few clarifying questions, and the officer was very responsive and took the time out to run through a few scenarios with me. I have the same deadline (and my extension request was denied) so today is pretty much D-day for me too. Good luck!sfoglia wrote:Tick tock clock, will I get an offer from you lovely, lovely people before tonight's NYU deadline?

So, should I join the FB group to look for potential off-campus housing situations? Just curious what you all are thinking...

been thinking about this. people periodically post the fb group looking for roommates, but i think you'd need to be pretty proactive to actually make something like that work (i.e. find a place elsewhere, craigslist, then harangue someone to live w/ you).Dishydiana wrote:So, should I join the FB group to look for potential off-campus housing situations? Ugh, I was hoping to do...less work? Like, one of my future classmates would casually have an 18-bedroom mansion in Allston, and needs a roommate or two.meowmers wrote:

Does anyone happen to know how Harvard treats outstanding mortgage liability for LIPP asset calculations? I know they consider home equity, but is outstanding mortgage debt treated as an offset?

Submitted my intent to enroll last night...I woke up this morning and still couldn't/can't believe this is really happening?!
Also, re: the housing question - someone posted a website for people to look for on campus housing/roommates/etc. I haven't looked at this in detail since I'll probably move in with some friends, but here it is: https://www.harvardhousingoffcampus.com/

Did you request one? My acceptance package didn't have one, and I was hoping to replace my "Duke Law" lanyard.thepowerofflight wrote:Guys I got a keychain!thepowerofflight wrote:gamerish wrote:No, they stopped sending those out when the shield was removed.thepowerofflight wrote:I remember seeing this a while ago, but are there still keychains? Glad to hear about the keychain!
On a related note, has anyone not gotten a book yet? Maybe some of those were delayed as well along with those admissions packets? I just received my packet last weekend, but still no book (or keychain :p)

For me, the admissions packet, book, and keychain were all sent in separate mailings (and in that order).-lemonlyman- wrote:Glad to hear about the keychain!
