I totally want to take a leave day and do stuff around the city I never get to because it's generally done during office hours. (granted I live in a touristy city and have not done many of the touristy things I was supposed to do upon arrival)

Exactly, I don't think I'll do it if SO doesn't live with me. Too scared to get busy.BirdLawExpert wrote:I want a dog so bad but I'd feel terrible if I neglected it at all.James.K.Polk wrote:Are you guys going to have a dog for law school? SO and I want to get either a french or an english bulldog.

Wife and I got a dog and we found that she actually keeps us up and moving. Running, dog parks and the like. The unconditional love is a plus too.BirdLawExpert wrote:I want a dog so bad but I'd feel terrible if I neglected it at all.James.K.Polk wrote:Are you guys going to have a dog for law school? I think if you live with a SO who will have a somewhat less demanding schedule than a typical 1L student, it can work. Would not advise anyone getting a new pet right before they start law school if they are planning to live on their own in a new city. After you're there seems like a better time to evaluate whether that's a commitment you can reasonably make.BirdLawExpert wrote:I want a dog so bad but I'd feel terrible if I neglected it at all.James.K.Polk wrote:Are you guys going to have a dog for law school? Off work today (and sick-ish) -- this might just be more boring than being there.

That's a fair point. I just don't want to end up accidentally leaving my dog locked in an apartment one night when I have to cram for contracts or something.doobleykah wrote:Wife and I got a dog and we found that she actually keeps us up and moving. My wife and I have a retired racing greyhound. He's lazy af, so no worries about neglecting him during 1L, but he does make finding an apartment a little more difficult.BirdLawExpert wrote:I want a dog so bad but I'd feel terrible if I neglected it at all.James.K.Polk wrote:Are you guys going to have a dog for law school? I'm bringing my dog with me to law school! He's old and really just likes to cuddle, so I imagine we'll be spending many hours curled up on the couch studying together.James.K.Polk wrote:Are you guys going to have a dog for law school? SO and I want to get either a french or an english bulldog.
FWIW, I also had a dog while in college and have him currently while working long hours. It's not easy to do and would be impossible if he was a puppy that demanded many hours of playtime/training. That being said, it's incredibly rewarding to have a dog and can be a great stress reliever (and also may be the only reason you go outside/get basic exercise when you get busy and stressed in law school).

That's so awesome - the lazier the dog, the better, in my eyes. I have zero interest in finding a dog to run with me (also, trying to actually train with your dog is such an inconvenience).... I want a dog to relax on the couch with me.WinterComing wrote:My wife and I have a retired racing greyhound. Great danes are apparently god-tier apartment dogs, because as long as you have a big enough couch for them to lay down on they'll be the happiest dogs in the world.James.K.Polk wrote:That's so awesome - the lazier the dog, the better, in my eyes. Running with our greyhound is basically impossible. For the first minute, he can run 45 miles per hour, and I can't come even close to keeping up. After that, he wants to lie down and I would basically have to drag him.BirdLawExpert wrote:Great danes are apparently god-tier apartment dogs, because as long as you have a big enough couch for them to lay down on they'll be the happiest dogs in the world.James.K.Polk wrote:That's so awesome - the lazier the dog, the better, in my eyes. And greyhounds make great apartment dogs. They sleep like 20 hours a day and despite the racing background require very little exercise. It's just that most landlords don't know that and aren't too keen on renting to people with an 80-pound dog that can jump up on the counters.

Re: Senioritis / Quitting-my-job-soon-iorits
Before you ask, yes, I'm getting a very late start to the day. I think I snoozed my alarm the max number of times so it stopped going off, woke up 20 minutes before I was supposed to leave the house, and decided a very slight sore throat was a good enough reason to stay home. So I'm "working" from home today instead of "working" at work.

Watching both of those when I get home from fancy UT event tonight. I actually just flat-out bought Attack the Block because I've heard great things and it was like $8 on bluray.capricasixx wrote:ATTACK THE BLOCK IS FANTASTICThe Abyss wrote:I've only seen Rogue Nation and enjoyed it.BirdLawExpert wrote:I got a bunch of movies on redbox to kill time tonight. Substitute teaching update:
One of the type A students said she wanted to be a teacher (while shilling votes for class president), so I conned her into teaching the class. High school is the best.
