How strict is the 4/11 deadline? I plan to go to the Cornell ASD but it is after the deadline... maybe I should use this to negotiate with Cornell before I get there?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Do scholarship offers from Georgetown come by snail mail? Or e-mail only?
I was accepted 3/21 after interview 3/15 and have been waiting on my package ever since...
Should I e-mail the hotline with a request? I haven't notified them of my interest...any help on how to do this would be appreciated.
I'm only slightly above one of their medians and exactly median LSAT score (3.8/167), so I'm not sure how my prospects for merit aid are...

Just email the hotline asking if you're being considered for financial aid and if they need any additional information. That way it's a polite inquiry.cgshea wrote:Do scholarship offers from Georgetown come by snail mail? Or e-mail only?

Very true. Hopefully they respond to me sometime before deposits are due at other schools.TheKisSquared wrote: Just email the hotline asking if you're being considered for financial aid and if they need any additional information. That way it's a polite inquiry.

Did anyone already send in their intent to enroll? Mine was due April 1 and I sent it in on the 1st and haven't received a reply. I know they're backed up, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't an email glitch that could cost me my scholarship if I should have received a confirmation from them!!

I sent it in and didn't get a confirmation until a couple of days later. I wouldn't worry, but if you don't hear from them in a couple days I might call.laynie wrote:Did anyone already send in their intent to enroll? So today I was informed by email that I will not be receiving any merit aid. Which really sucks. It seems now that attending Georgetown (my top choice) is now, not feasible. I love the school and the people seem awesome, so seriously, this sucks!
Good luck everyone.

To paraphrase the Dean of Financial Aid, "lawyers negotiate. Show us you know how to do that and who knows what will happen."wrestlme431 wrote:So today I was informed by email that I will not be receiving any merit aid. Which really sucks. This isn't a hard no, it's a chance for you to show them why you deserve money in no uncertain terms.

i sent my intent to enroll on April 1 accepting my scholarship (which was already definitely higher than my numbers would seem to allow) and so I was super shocked when I got the Opportunity Scholarship bump yesterday to over 40k/year!!!!! I am SO THRILLED I LOVE YOU GEORGETOWN

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
ok so i'm an idiot and sent in my negotiation request late monday night (technically tuesday morning) and my intent form is due Friday. I assume this is too small of a window to get a response so should I just not send my enrollment form at all until I hear (making it late) or send as a yes even though unless I get the bump I requested it's a no?
*edit* or is there a third option I'm neglecting?

I comfortably sent mine in late. A school that took 3+ weeks longer than promised to respond to ED applicants can wait a couple extra days for a response.AMajorChord wrote:ok so i'm an idiot and sent in my negotiation request late monday night (technically tuesday morning) and my intent form is due Friday. A third option is to email the school that you are still interested in negotiations and that you will sign the enrollment form when all is said and done.
Remember that admissions folks are regular people. Communicate with them just like you would any other reasonable person.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
to rehash some panic from 10+ pages ago:
the intent to enroll form is not binding, according to people in this thread. My form is slightly different than what was quoted before, it says "I am pleased to accept Georgetown Law’s scholarship award and will be enrolling" (as an opportunity scholar my deposit is waived automatically). This seems more binding to me, but also isn't requiring me to withdraw from other schools. HOWEVER: Spivey's post makes me think that (if needed) as long as I withdraw from GULC before depositing somewhere else, my ass is covered.

I've been anxiously waiting for a reply to my scholarship sort-of-feeler email last week and finally got an email. It was another welcome to Georgetown Law. Ugh.
I suppose there are worse problems to have. Lol

That is the same form that I had I'm fairly sure just for general merit aid...but the way I think of it is that A. your intent to enroll can change (intent changes all the time) and B. saying you will do a thing based on that intent isn't binding. Also, realize, you could submit an intent to enroll anywhere and a deposit but so long as you don't sign a form that says you're withdrawing all other applications, the most you can lose is your deposit (and if you haven't sent that in yet, there isn't much they can do--I don't predict any law schools suing applicants over $1,000). Additionally, I'll mention that my second offer e-mail came with these words:TheKisSquared wrote:to rehash some panic from 10+ pages ago:

This to me blatantly implies that those who are not ready to commit can and should still submit that intent to enroll by the date and in doing so haven't bound themselves to anything. To accept the scholarship, please return the attached Intent to Enroll form by [date]...note that if you are ready to commit to Georgetown Law, the Optional Tuition Deposit Waiver form is available to you.

This makes me feel better, thank you. Looking back on the 2017 and 2018 forums, it seems like many people did this (sent in the form, checked off that they would deposit by the deadline, then continued negotiating/potentially changed their mind). One post even said they directly called admissions and asked if it was binding and were told it was not.TheKisSquared wrote: This makes me feel better, thank you. Yes, but it can take a bit. I didn't get a confirmation email until 4 days after I sent it in.trilliviapope wrote:Do you get a confirmation email from the law school after you've sent in your intent to enroll form?
