I emailed yesterday on deadline from another (non-matching) school and ultimately received a merit offer. PM for details. There is still money!

I'm not declining the offer yet, but my heart checked out of this game of chicken because I'm not subjecting myself to sticker debt. Therefore, I made a Hastings 2019 thread. Maybe I'll see some of you locals from here over there!

After a tough decision, I withdrew, wishing you all best of luck and hoping someone can put good use to the seat.

Also just got an unofficial matching offer - almost a full match! I used Penn and emailed ktalvarez. Sent the email last Monday I think, and followed up once.Applesauce11 wrote:Hey congrats! For those of you who received matching offers today, did it come with a deadline to accept?

Ah, I'd also like to know more! I've been waiting on their match response for a while now. You emailed them again after submitting the form/sending another school's offer?clurrburr wrote:Just PM'd you both!matterhorn wrote:Would love to hear about this as well.Applesauce11 wrote:Hey congrats! Is it possible to get a matching scholarship AND a generic deans merit scholarship? I'm assuming the answer is no...

Also emailed Berkeley with my exploding deadline (in 2 days lol) and got a response about the matching scholarship app I sent. I'm so impressed. But holy shit I need to make a decision.

Hearing that Kristin is responding to emails sent after mine (with similar scholarship commitment deadlines) makes me wonder how she prioritizes emails in her inbox..

TBH, she probably reads them all but then prioritizes how she responds. At least that's what I'm telling myself, refusing to believe they are just sitting there unread and I am just being forgotten.

Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
I hope that's the case because it seems like a lot of people started off with Berkeley as one of their top choices (me included) but the ridiculous nature of their Financial Aid process has driven away a lot of qualified applicants who would have attended had the school been a bit more transparent about timelines and the general award process.lolRCscrewyou wrote:+2Applesauce11 wrote:+1.matterhorn wrote:Hearing that Kristin is responding to emails sent after mine (with similar scholarship commitment deadlines) makes me wonder how she prioritizes emails in her inbox..

Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
To be honest, I feel like I should have saw this coming at ASW. When I went to visit the FA office I tried to ask a specific question regarding my need access and the response I got was "we haven't actually read your app yet.." (this being a week before decisions on aid where supposedly going out). I completely understand that Berkeley Law is going through a rather tumultuous time, but the lack of professionalism has really forced me to look elsewhere.
Also I used to think that Berkeley's lower medians were due to their holistic approach, but now I am wondering if it is because those applicants with higher scores go elsewhere due to FA? Maybe I'm just being salty though

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
