Where did you end up?

Georgetown. DC is the center of everything in the country that matters, so of course I'm going to the best school in DC. Also, have you SEEN the student rec center?!

George Washington. Georgetown is great, but G-Dub is in Foggy Bottom and I'd like to eat at ShopHouse as often as humanly possible.

If I had known about it earlier then I would have taken off an additional day to attend the SCOTUS tour.
Yeah, I had to ask for another day off of work in order to attend. Anyone want to share which hotel they're staying at? Everything I've found seems to be ridiculously expensive or so inconvenient I might as well stay outside of DC near a metro station. I was hoping to stay nearby and get the full DC experience though.
Not sure what the rates are for the next ASW, but I went to the one in January and stayed at the Hyatt right down the street. With the GULC discount, it wasn't super pricey (but January is off-season, so I'm not sure), and it was really nice and extremely convenient.
There's a GULC discount???? News to me. Anyone going to the ASD April 7-9?
For January's Open House, all I had to do was call the Hyatt with this corporate number: 58549. It's 10-20% off, depending on the type of room you book. If you go to the FAQ for the Open Houses on the Admitted Students Website, it has the "special rates" for local hotels.
Thank you for sharing!!

I'll be at the ASD on April 8!
I checked in on the discount and the cheapest you can get is still like $400. I live in Baltimore, but still don't want to do that round trip drive twice. Looking at Airbnb places now - if anyone is down to go splits on a multi-bed place within walking/metro distance to save some $$, let me know!
I might be interested! Let me know what you find! I have family near Annapolis but also looking to avoid that commute for those couple of days.

So does anyone have any thoughts on A. Whether we can negotiate need based aid? And B. Using said need based offer from Georgetown to negotiate with another school?

I'm using it to negotiate with other schools and just referring to it as the scholarship they're offering me. If it goes up once they've given me a merit award then that's just a higher offer I can bring back to the negotiating table.

I was admitted after the feeler emails went out, so I requested merit aid consideration at the beginning of the month, and today I got an email that feels like a feeler email? It asks for any information about what I'm thinking or what amount would make a difference.

Hey, if you want to PM it to me I can confirm if it's the same feeler, but it sounds like it to me!

+1 going on 9 days with no response. I live in DC, thinking about showing up at admissions with my other offers in hand if they don't get back to me

Hey all, I was just admitted this past Monday. Does anyone here have any idea of when a very late admit might hear about any potential scholarship offers? I know that they started coming out weeks ago, but I'm just wondering about a timeline.

Oh and hi everyone!

Hey again, Navyhornguy 8) so happy to hear you're admitted!

I think a decent portion of us still haven't heard one way or the other re scholarship (myself included). However, I sent a request to be considered to the hotline email, so they at least know I'm seriously considering Georgetown. Couldn't hurt for you to do the same.

How's everyone handling ASW this upcoming week? Would it be worth it to stay in DC friday night as well?

How long since you notified the office that you requested aid until you got an offer?

It varies based on the applicant. I submitted in early March and haven't heard anything, but others who submitted after me have already received offers.

Just got my second revised scholarship offer! I've managed to get from $12.5k up to $20k through two rounds of negotiation, so as a splitter without any other T14 acceptances I'm definitely feeling a lot better about GULC.
