Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
That's what makes this situation so frustrating. The Duke deposit does require me to withdraw from all other schools. But I can't just pass up my scholarship from Duke in the hope that Berkeley will match it. I pretty much have to put down my deposit if I don't hear back from Berkeley by the deadline....IcarusOnWheels wrote:Just make sure the Duke deposit doesn't require you to withdraw from all other schools.RationalHeretic23 wrote:Well here we are. Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
Sent in a last ditch effort to get some info from Boalt as a scholly offer from another school expires later this week. Reading everyone else's futile attempts to do the same here is leaving me depressed. Expecting nothing useful but would love to be at Berkeley.

I think they're looking at who accepted/declined the Friday offers today and will make more offers tomorrow.sudijajd wrote:Anyone receive any love yet today?!

I don't know about merit aid, but don't hold your breath on need based aid. They've granted it to everyone already, and the only way you'll get any at this point is if someone who was offered need based aid goes elsewhere.

Did the financial aid office tell you this?

lolRCscrewyou wrote:Yes basically. It's just like merit aid: they make their offers and if someone declines it, they reallocate it. So even though you may qualify, that doesn't automatically mean you will get funding.jalapenocheeseburger wrote:lolRCscrewyou wrote:I don't know about merit aid, but don't hold your breath on need based aid. Wow that's definitely not the impression I got from my admit packet. This is disappointing I was excited about and leaning Boalt.

Yeah, at ASW they made it sound like they did their best to spread need based aid to as many people as possible. That doesnt actually seem to be the case, at least for this year anyways.jalapenocheeseburger wrote:lolRCscrewyou wrote:Yes basically. Berkeley asked me to take a survey since I declined admission. At the end I included this comment "....However, you all really should try to expedite the financial aid process. People's futures LITERALLY hang in the balance."

Thank you for doing this! I can't believe how they're acting. You would think they would send update emails at the very least.Dcc617 wrote:Berkeley asked me to take a survey since I declined admission. Are we positive that Berkeley has given out all of the need aid? I definitely received a need-based fee waiver for my application so it would seem weird that they chose not to offer any need aid to me...

They'll still *probably* make offers, but I think it's going to be dependent on other people declining their offersskimmilk wrote:Are we positive that Berkeley has given out all of the need aid? I was told that all of the notifications for those ineligible for need-based aid have gone out. If you haven't heard yet, that should be a good thing (if you were applying for need-based aid).lolRCscrewyou wrote:They'll still *probably* make offers, but I think it's going to be dependent on other people declining their offersskimmilk wrote:Are we positive that Berkeley has given out all of the need aid? They should be more clear in their communication with admitted students that SOME students determined to have high financial need will receive need based grants.

For those who have received need based aid, what is the deadline to accept, if you don't mind me asking? I also spoke with someone earlier and they did confirm that most need based aid has been exhausted and that more would be released if folks do not accept and that this could go on until June

Re: UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) Law Class of 2019
I visited the financial aid office and was told there wasn't much money left. They're definitely waiting to see who declines what scholarships have been offered so far, for need and merit. But if I don't get an offer by May 1st, she said that I likely won't get anything at all. It sounds like a mess over there. It was a small staff before, and now a couple left, apparently recently. I received many apologies for not getting any responses to my matching scholarship emails. The person I talked to said they are trying to catch up on emails now.

This is very helpful information. Thank you for sharing this. Was there any info regarding how soon the deadlines are for the scholarships that have been offered so far? Just so I can know when to expect more offers to possibly be going out?Califbess wrote:I visited the financial aid office and was told there wasn't much money left. Has there been any need-based aid awarded (excluding those who interviewed for BLOS and were denied)?sudijajd wrote:For those who have received need based aid, what is the deadline to accept, if you don't mind me asking?
