Where did you end up?

Georgetown. DC is the center of everything in the country that matters, so of course I'm going to the best school in DC. Also, have you SEEN the student rec center?!

George Washington. Georgetown is great, but G-Dub is in Foggy Bottom and I'd like to eat at ShopHouse as often as humanly possible.

Vanderbilt. Georgetown is too big, and I need to live in a city with actual barbecue.

UCLA. I don't understand why people would voluntarily go to law school somewhere that has winter.

Cornell. I want all of the prestige of Georgetown, but without all of that pesky cosmopolitan culture.

Northwestern. I needed a school that was more business-minded, and also one that has buildings that don't remind me of the USSR.

UVA. DC is great and all, but why live in DC when I can pay cost of living in Charlottesville for three years?

Dean tuition grants are need based aid, not merit.

Did anyone negotiate with the 2nd offer they received? I just got a scholarship offer form UChicago, that is higher than GTown's 2nd offer (though not by that much), and wanted to know how much that would effect their offer since UChicago is ranked higher then them?

They will care.

+1. Keep negotiating until they have Andy tell you that is the highest they will go. Then, ask for more.

I think it depends on what you're negotiating - merit aid and need-based aid appear to be determined separately by different departments.

I'm assuming that means fin aid is fin aid and merit is admissions. Thanks, m'friend

I'm definitely attending ASW, but most likely not the SCOTUS event since I am working Weds and and a half day Thurs.

If I had known about it earlier then I would have taken off an additional day to attend the SCOTUS tour.

Yeah, I had to ask for another day off of work in order to attend. Anyone want to share which hotel they're staying at? Everything I've found seems to be ridiculously expensive or so inconvenient I might as well stay outside of DC near a metro station. I was hoping to stay nearby and get the full DC experience though.

Not sure what the rates are for the next ASW, but I went to the one in January and stayed at the Hyatt right down the street. With the GULC discount, it wasn't super pricey (but January is off-season, so I'm not sure), and it was really nice and extremely convenient.

For January's Open House, all I had to do was call the Hyatt with this corporate number: 58549. It's 10-20% off, depending on the type of room you book. If you go to the FAQ for the Open Houses on the Admitted Students Website, it has the "special rates" for local hotels.

I checked in on the discount and the cheapest you can get is still like $400. I live in Baltimore, but still don't want to do that round trip drive twice. Looking at Airbnb places now - if anyone is down to go splits on a multi-bed place within walking/metro distance to save some $$, let me know!

Hi! Recently admitted via ASW so I have yet to access any info about the upcoming open house. I would like to attend if possible and am trying to look up flights since it is already so last minute. Can anyone provide some insight about what time things start on Thursday the 31st?

I live in the area already but did you sign up to sit in on a class?
