They used to be really fun, and then got slightly more irritating as people asked all the same questions and UR dates stopped mattering/meaning anything to me.EnderWiggin wrote:taking refuge here i need a safe space the applicant threads are rapidly degenerating just lost it in the Penn thread halp

You must spend less time reading the Choosing a Law School forum than I do.schocolate wrote:I maintain faith in humanity

That is probably true. I just... I just want to believe that people mean well, even if they are horribly, horribly misguided.WinterComing wrote:You must spend less time reading the Choosing a Law School forum than I do.schocolate wrote:I maintain faith in humanity

Is it just me who thinks that thread is mildly depressing? Everyone on TLS seems to have a one track/debt averse mind.WinterComing wrote:You must spend less time reading the Choosing a Law School forum than I do.schocolate wrote:I maintain faith in humanity

I imagine that section of the forum to be like where an old-timey map would say "Here be dragons" except the dragons are lurkers who are picking between TTT(a) and TTT(b).WinterComing wrote:You must spend less time reading the Choosing a Law School forum than I do.schocolate wrote:I maintain faith in humanity

I think a big issue is that it's rarely actually about choosing a law school. It seems to be more instances of people wanting affirmation that the choice they made/want to make is the right one.jtg21 wrote:Is it just me who thinks that thread is mildly depressing? Well, and a ton of people saying like, I'm choosing between one TTT and another TTT, and my only career goal is Big Law. Then the OP gets really upset when people say neither. The mentality seems to be like, I gave you a multiple choice question, so you must pick one of the choices, even if none of them are remotely worthwhile.schocolate wrote:I think a big issue is that it's rarely actually about choosing a law school. I mainly read the "prestige with no money versus slightly less prestige with more money" threads.

Re: Senioritis / Quitting-my-job-soon-iorits
My cousin went to a TTT school where I'm from and he got an in-house counsel position at a company where his dad used to be a VP. Now my family thinks I'm crazy to not apply there because "your cousin is a lawyer for [generic massive company], you think you're better than that?"WinterComing wrote:Well, and a ton of people saying like, I'm choosing between one TTT and another TTT, and my only career goal is Big Law. I imagine a lot of people in those threads are like my family members; clinging onto the one or two success stories and ignoring the outside factors that contributed to that success.

I'm still that girl and convinced one school lost my app...I just don't choose to advertise my neuroses. Or do much about it since I'm super grateful for my other offers.Schneidersbetter wrote:Hmm.
