I'm sure I should know this, but...what are housing options for summer start? How does one go about finding temporary housing?

Tons of housing options in Ann Arbor in summer -- find some Michigan undergrad facebook groups, or PM me your email address and some basic info about your ideal summer housing, I could send an email to the listserv. I'm pretty sure someone will contact you.Olliedemars wrote:I'm sure I should know this, but...what are housing options for summer start? How does one go about finding temporary housing?

Does anyone think I would be able to get Michigan to bump its offer with a 45k higher offer from Cornell?

Now that the ASWs are over, can we do a poll ITT about where people are going to be living? I imagine the results would be predictable, but as a 1L that is not going to be living in the LC, I am curious to see just how alone I am, especially among my fellow Summer Starters, since we are, on average, the younger crowd.

Not sure if this would work, but as long as you're polite don't see any downside in askingmatterhorn wrote:Does anyone think I would be able to get Michigan to bump its offer with a 45k higher offer from Cornell?

Not a summer starter, but also not living on campus. Moving with a hubby and dogs, so looking at dog-friendly apartments with easy access to the busesGFox345 wrote:Now that the ASWs are over, can we do a poll ITT about where people are going to be living? How much are you getting from them right now? If you're under half tuition atm then it's very probable, if you're over maybe less so. That's enough of a difference where financial aid said they would reevaluate though.matterhorn wrote:Does anyone think I would be able to get Michigan to bump its offer with a 45k higher offer from Cornell?

Similar situation except two kids instead of dogs and doing summer start (been out of UG for awhile and ready to get back at it). We looked all over and I spent quite a bit of time during preview looking at places to live. We will spend 1L in Northwood graduate family housing, which is technically on-campus housing, but definitely didn't have that feel (both when I visited and in talking to folks currently living there). And we applied to a local Coop and plan to live there 2 and 3L, as their waitlists are ~9 months long.zozo1717 wrote:Not a summer starter, but also not living on campus. Anyone in a similar situation, feel free to PM me, as I've done a fuqton of research on housing for non-single students in A2. Maybe I can save you some time.

Fall starter planning to live off campus as well. Moving with s/o and cats. My initial searches are giving me the impression that apartment complexes seem more pet-friendly than smaller rental units on the whole.zozo1717 wrote:Not a summer starter, but also not living on campus. Over half but I guess there's no harm in trying! Just wanted to hear if anyone else has had success in a similar position.miku015 wrote:How much are you getting from them right now? Does anyone know if there's any chance to get more money after putting in deposit based on undergrad gpa increasing? Looking at lawschoolnumbers my gpa was .01-.02 away from the people who got the next level of scholarship money. If my gpa goes up to that after this semester, do you think they'd consider it even though I've lost my leverage.

Made my deposit, so excited! Wonder if law students have time to tailgate...
Btw in case anyone is interested (and had as much difficulty as me locating it), here's the list of employers that showed up at last year's OCI: https://www.law.umich.edu/careers/Docum ... loyers.pdf
Thought it might be helpful for those still on the fence!

Tell me about it. I'm now a Buckeye-Wolverine. A certain Saturday in late November just got very weird...gazorpazorp wrote:BoooWaitersIsland wrote:Made my deposit today. Even though a different Big Ten school will always have my heart, I'm looking forward to making Michigan a close second.

Does Michigan have an admitted students Facebook group? Can't find one.

This group has basically consisted of a few 1L & 2L's asking about subleasers for the summer... so don't get your expectations too high!basedvulpes wrote:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1664573680489970/herecomesthesun wrote:Does Michigan have an admitted students Facebook group? Can't find one.

For those who have deposited already - I can see confirmation that they got my $$ and I was able to set up an email address - but have you received any other communication (like from admissions, something in the mail, etc.)?
