Sorry to hear! Did you get the e-mail yesterday evening as well? You're the second person who is independent to be denied need based aid, which doesn't make too much sense, especially if your net worth is limited. I went through a long process to get classified as independent and have not heard anything since they approved my independence :|
If you haven't heard anything, I think that's a good sign since last night was only rejections.
I am keeping my hopes up, but it's really discouraging to see how the entire process has been handled thus far!

Agree with a previous poster who said this is just a cruel psychological experiment. "How long can we torture 0L's until they break?"

Stopping by a few days late to say I got that no need based aid email Monday night as well.

I didn't submit a matching scholarship because I didn't apply to anywhere else on the list except Harvard after I got in to Berkeley last November, since Berkeley was my top choice except Stanford which basically doesn't exist anyway. I am pretty disappointed they're making me regret this unstrategic-but-honest choice by putting all the focus on matching apps and not giving clear information and deadlines on dean's scholarships.

I feel you. I made a similar mistake but had just hoped that being more sincere as an applicant would've been better/more fairly received by them... Definitely unfortunate. But ultimately, Berkeley is still my top choice regardless.

So far I've only seen a few mentions of Dean's Scholarships - and I think they were all people who interviewed for BLOS. I received one and declined it last week. Hopefully that's good news for all of you still waiting. :(

I will be withdrawing today, but to those of you waiting for matching scholarship info, I emailed K. Alvarez directly (there's an email if your app is due in a week) and she responded in less than 24 hours with an offer. So definitely utilize that option so you won't need to wait.

I sent a similar email, and I got a response saying they can't guarantee a decision before April 30th despite other schools' deadlines :(

I did the actual, formal application about 20 days before my deadline (April 15) and then emailed her last Thursday once I didn't receive any notifications. She emailed me within 24 hours.

Oh, that sucks and is super unfair. They didn't match my award but offered me a generous amount and guaranteed it for 3 years. One thing I disliked about the Berkeley process, though, was that since they don't require a monetary deposit, they don't seem to care too much about the other schools who do and hence, don't seem to rush their process. Flip side, though, you can always say you might attend tentatively and since there's no money lost, it's an easier route to take than depositing at other, possible options.

OH, did you email Alvarez directly or the financial aid office?

For those who selected the tentative option, did you get a confirmation email or do you see another place to declare final intent on Can Central? Just want to confirm my response.

I got a confirmation email 2 days later, and the final intent showed up in 5 hours or so.
