Glad I looked at other people's pics before I did it.
Where can you see other people's pics?
I just checked out the photos of previous year's classes (log into intranet). 90% of them were posed in front of professional looking backdrops - not at all what I had planned on uploading. Had to go get a studio photo taken.
Thanks for mentioning this. I definitely wasn't going to go with anything like a professional studio shot but I guess I am now.

Just be careful that you know what you're paying for. I looked around and found "same day head shots for $9.99!!"

Needless to say, when I got there, I had to buy the business package to get what I wanted. To get a CD and purchase photo rights, I spent close to $100. Hopefully, I can use them for something else too.

damn, i don't mind the backdrop because i'm good at photoshop, but i didn't expect everyone to be wearing a suit for the pic. now i have to dress for the pic

Really you don't have to spring for a studio pic if you don't want one. My year everyone just uploaded whatever for the most part. The reason upperclassmen have professional pictures is because the picture you upload now will get replaced with the headshot you take for OCI during 2L.

Thanks For clearing that up. Sorry guys. I hope nobody else spent $ needlessly.

I'm glad you said this. Although, I was 100% never going to spring for studio photos for an intranet pic, lol.

I'm already here so anytime is good for me (although I will be gone the second week of July). If anyone else is already here (or coming soon) and needs a little help moving in or someone to check out Nashville with, just message me!

i personally won't be moved in and settled until close to Aug 1, a little before that honestly but i prolly wouldn't come hang out until i had at least a few days to settle into my new place etc.

i imagine a lot of people wouldn't be able to make a mid july meeting. at the same time you probably want the TLS meetup to be at least one week prior to the start of orientation week, so perhaps somewhere between August 4-9th or so?

Has anyone read The Life of the Law yet? Apparently it's required reading for 1Ls.

Oops. It's actually called What Every Law Student Really Needs to Know. The class is called The Life of the Law.

+1 I also bought "Getting to Maybe" but I'm so enjoying reading non-academic books right now that its questionable whether I'll get to it before class.

Personally, I vote mid-July, because I'm travelling the week(ish) before orientation.

Working my way through it, but it's been a drag so far... Honestly feel like a lot of the information is obvious, so I'm not sure if I'll be finishing it. We'll see.

ive only skimmed the book thoroughly--
would describe it as, eh, kind of like short, but comprehensive, mixture of law stuff you definitely already know if you're on TLS...
probably useful to legitimately read, but nothing truly insightful in there

Just a heads up, but remember to email admissions on or around July 17th with confirmation that you will enroll.

I called them about another matter a few days ago and asked about the email. They said you can send confirmation now if you're 100% sure you're attending this fall.

Some of the 1L classes are showing people registered for them. Maybe it means section assignments will come out soon.

Anybody know anything about orientation? is it just a couple of hours per day all week, or does class last all day (or just on certain days?) - trying to schedule something else around it, but don't know if it's possible.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
