For your first year I would get the latest edition. It sucks but the updates will often include new cases and materials that you want to have. I wouldn't risk it to save a few bucks.eshnunna wrote:question on books:
Is it necessary to buy the newest edition for casebooks? I have two 2016 editions listed for my section and I'd prefer to buy used if the edition doesn't matter all that much.

Thanks for the response! Guess it's time to make that Amazon order...

What is everybody wearing to orientation? I was planning on going pretty casual, but I don't want to be the only tool in jeans and a t-shirt.

I'm female. going to go with a nice short sleeve blouse and jeans for day one (for the picture which is just head and shoulders) and see how everyone else is dressed then and go from there. hopefully not too fancy overall since one of our events suggests stretchy clothes for a ropes courseJohnDoe007 wrote:What is everybody wearing to orientation? Do they take your picture again even if you submitted a photo for the student ID?burritoface wrote:I'm female. going to go with a nice short sleeve blouse and jeans for day one (for the picture which is just head and shoulders) and see how everyone else is dressed then and go from there. hopefully not too fancy overall since one of our events suggests stretchy clothes for a ropes courseJohnDoe007 wrote:What is everybody wearing to orientation? Yeah. The photo they take during orientation is what is listed in the Student Directory listings. The photo for the ID will never be seen anywhere outside of the ID.cantexplaingottago wrote:Do they take your picture again even if you submitted a photo for the student ID?burritoface wrote:I'm female. going to go with a nice short sleeve blouse and jeans for day one (for the picture which is just head and shoulders) and see how everyone else is dressed then and go from there. hopefully not too fancy overall since one of our events suggests stretchy clothes for a ropes courseJohnDoe007 wrote:What is everybody wearing to orientation? Posting this because I'm the kind of person who receives a newsletter email, opens it, thinks, "I'll get to this later," and completely forgets about it... Fellow 1Ls, please read the Scoops issue. I was wondering if there was anything else I should be doing to prep for the first day of class, and this gave me an answer.

Myron's List is a place where Cornell students sell their books.chrisharrison wrote:is amazon the best place to go for books? any other sites?
Also, if you're looking to buy new or like new, there's not a huge price difference between Amazon and the Cornell store. What I did was pull up the Cornell store and Amazon and compare prices and pick the site that is cheaper. In some cases, the Cornell store was actually cheaper.

I know loan money started being disbursed as of yesterday. I have not seen the funds in my account...I am assuming it could take up to a couple of days? Has anyone received their funds yet?

Not yet, I'm keeping an eye out. I think I read somewhere that it can take up to two business days for direct deposit.biddymulligan wrote:I know loan money started being disbursed as of yesterday. Yeah. According to student center, direct deposit is usually made the business day after it's posted to your bursar account.jrvansant wrote:Not yet, I'm keeping an eye out. Mine still says "pending financial aid" in my account summary, so I'm not sure if it's even been disbursed. I might give them a call today.

No, sorry. I didn't end up calling because I found an email from a few weeks back that says "Please allow 2-3 business days for your ACH funds to be available." I'll probably give it until the end of the day tomorrow.

I just now got an email stating that my refund has been processed. The "pending" was removed from my account and it zeroed out yesterday, for reference. Definitely call them if nothing changes by this evening.jrvansant wrote:No, sorry. What's everyone wearing today? And should we bring anything to today's sessions?

Ok, thanks. As of just now the "pending financial aid" is removed from Fall, so I'm assuming I'll get the refund tomorrow or Monday.

It was nice finally meeting some classmates in person today, and the catered food was pretty good. This Everest simulation thing for tomorrow looks interesting.
