Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Sent an interest email today, but the timeline makes me awfully nervous. The email mentioned that scholarship award notifications are sent on a rolling basis, but what if deposit deadlines for other schools pass? Then I won't have negotiation leverage or my original offers to fall back on if I decide GULC isn't feasible given the cost. I'm sure others are facing the same predicament.

Did anyone just get an email about a special lecture and cocktail reception at the US Supreme Court? Any idea what that is about?

Got it too. I'm disappointed that I can't go, but I couldn't take two and a half days off work to be there in time (also I'm not going to the open house because I already committed to another ASW that weekend).DeathByLSATWasTaken wrote:Did anyone just get an email about a special lecture and cocktail reception at the US Supreme Court? Seems like a really cool event...if you're in the area or if you were already flying in a day early to ASW.anonymous117 wrote:Got it too. Yeah I'm local (which tbh is one of the things keeping me from committing to GULC because I kind of want a change of scenery) but getting a chance to go to the supreme court is so, so cool.threatlevelmidnight wrote:Seems like a really cool event...if you're in the area or if you were already flying in a day early to ASW.anonymous117 wrote:Got it too. I live near DC and was thinking about inviting my parents as it seems like a cool event. Would that be weird?threatlevelmidnight wrote:Seems like a really cool event...if you're in the area or if you were already flying in a day early to ASW.anonymous117 wrote:Got it too. I will say the parents on my tour were sort of annoying though. In a lecture they might be less so.

I'm accepted, live in DC, and didn't get the invite! Do you think Andy is sending me a message?

Am I out of luck if I haven't received a scholarship offer yet? I was admitted in mid December.

It wasn't an invite - it was a generic email that also included the schedule for ASW and I'm not even going to ASW. I assume it was sent to everyone, might still be on its way to you.dizzystpizzy wrote:I'm accepted, live in DC, and didn't get the invite! Do you think Andy is sending me a message?

It seems like they really only sent one big wave of offers out. Tons of people haven't heard, see the poll.Drmrndaphd wrote:Am I out of luck if I haven't received a scholarship offer yet? I was admitted in mid December.

Is anyone aware of any cap on merit scholarships? Can you pretty much only get to a certain number or will they go to full tuition?

According to last year's 509 - GULC had 3 students (in total - as in, 1 per class year) receiving full tuition or more. So I mean, it happens - but not at lot...
I remember seeing somewhere (last year's thread?) that they'll claim they don't go higher than 40k/year, but the poster suggested that that's not accurate in practice.

Still v curious when those of us with feeler e-mails will get an offer, or hear we are not getting an offer.

3 students total but how many per year are offered? I think probably a few more. I can see some people choosing substantial aid at a slightly higher peer school than full at GULC, especially after cost of living considerations.ltbenn wrote:https://www.law.georgetown.edu/admissio ... What does it mean to notify them of my interest?anonymous117 wrote:It seems like they really only sent one big wave of offers out. Tons of people haven't heard, see the poll.Drmrndaphd wrote:Am I out of luck if I haven't received a scholarship offer yet? I was admitted in mid December.

You would send an email to the hotline and basically ask to be considered for a scholarship.Drmrndaphd wrote:What does it mean to notify them of my interest?anonymous117 wrote:It seems like they really only sent one big wave of offers out. Has anyone who has responded to the initial scholarship offer asking for an increase received any type of reply? Even a confirmation of receipt? Radio silence over here

Lols, people are still waiting for the initial scholarship offer. Just relax, they probably won't even start negotiating until they send out the majority of their offersmissie wrote:Has anyone who has responded to the initial scholarship offer asking for an increase received any type of reply? Haha true. Is it really radio silence if it's only been 48 hours? There were schools I applied to where I didn't here anything about admission for three or four months.lolRCscrewyou wrote:Lols, people are still waiting for the initial scholarship offer. I'm only surprised by the lack of response so far because Georgetown has been really quick to reply to emails throughout the cycle, even if it's just been an acknowledgment of receipt. You guys are probably right lolBirdLawExpert wrote:Haha true. Is it really radio silence if it's only been 48 hours? My guess is it'll take at least a week to hear back about negotiations.missie wrote:I'm only surprised by the lack of response so far because Georgetown has been really quick to reply to emails throughout the cycle, even if it's just been an acknowledgment of receipt.
