Definitely call the financial aid office. I had to call a couple times but they ended up emailing it to me and were really nice on the phone despite being really unresponsive when I had previously emailed them.
+1 I called last week, and they were really helpful/responsive once I got connected. I got my aid letter ~3 days later.
Thanks, will do! I'm hoping they'll be nice enough to tell me my award amount over the phone since I'll probably have to wait till next week with the weekend coming up..decision deadlines are coming up real soon
Also, anyone know if Columbia c/o 2019 has a fb page??

Submitted my MPN. Has anyone heard back from CLS regarding loans, yet? It's been over a week.

I haven't heard anything from them since submitting my deposit - was hoping I'd get more info from them on next steps at some point. Did you hear anything in the meantime about submitting the MPN, or did you just follow the fin aid instructions we already got?

I completed the MPN on the Student Loans website and received the following email:
"Your school will tell you what loans, if any, you are eligible to receive. If you have questions regarding your loan eligibility, the next steps in the processing of your loan, when the loan will be disbursed (paid out), or no longer wish to receive the loan, contact your school's financial aid office."
I'm just not sure if I should have gotten something by now or if I even did this correctly.

Got it, I'll do that this weekend. My financial aid award informed me what loans I'd be eligible to receive - do you think they're referring to that?

Possibly, but I didn't apply for ALL financial aid (grants, etc), so I never received anything like that.

There's also the one-page form that you get with your financial aid award info (i.e. need-based grants or just loans if you only applied for those). It seems like they want you to send that back too? It just has you list like how much $ in loans you're taking out - has a space for the stafford loan, space for other fed loans, and then you sign at the bottom. I was personally thinking that that form is online somewhere, and it probably is, but I haven't looked yet as I have yet to commit.

That's why I'm waiting for more info... I committed after negotiation worked, so the one pager I got has the wrong numbers. I'll give them a call next week if I haven't heard anything.

Right, so I never got a financial aid award, since I didn't apply for grants. So I'm not really sure what you're talking about. :\

Oh, I know what form it is now!!
Okay so log on to the admitted students website. Then click on the "financial aid" box thing. Then, click on the "financial aid questionnaire." It is the third page of that document.

I'm between Duke (with $$) and Columbia (still waiting on fin aid, but presuming sticker for the sake of my decision right now).

GULC with 90k+ scholly or Columbia Sticker. I'm a PI person though so the LRAP at CLS makes me able to swallow it. Waiting on renegotiation, though.

For me it's basically CLS at sticker (also going PI) or not going to lawl school at all. Also riding out a few WLs currently.

I'm in the same boat.
After I filled out the Questionnaire I called the fin-aid office and they said that we just apply directly through the studentloans.gov site and we don't need anything else from the school.
edit: but it was early and I had bad reception so take that with a grain of salt lol
edit2:
Yup, I was wrong. What they meant was just submit the MPN and do the entrance counseling. Then send FAFSA and the financial aid questionnaire to the fin-aid office. Columbia will be doing the loan certification and following up in mid summer.

Good to know. Guess that's something for me to do this weekend.

Oh god Berkeley just moved my acceptance deadline forward a full week so now I have to accept by tomorrow. Haven't heard anything from Columbia about financial aid and I've called a few times already over the past two weeks. Any advice?!
