Does anyone know if they tell you if you're NOT getting any scholarships or is it just a you never hear back type of thing?

I know this has already been asked, but I couldn't really find an answer. Does anyone know how binding the intent to enroll form is?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Not binding. All you're doing with the form is telling them you're still interested. Do not let them trick you into thinking signing it marks the end of the negotiations with a cheap psychological trick.Being-yonce wrote:I know this has already been asked, but I couldn't really find an answer. I was also wondering about this given that we are balancing other deposit / scholarship guarantee deadlines

Hey all. What is the largest scholarship you guys have seen given out? I've seen 120k so far, but nothing more than that, and I'm wondering if they give out 135, 150, full $$$. Any insight?

I included other offers, didn't request a specific amount or matching - just sort of put them out therejanderson821 wrote:Did you give them your other offers you are considering or just ask for more?ltbenn wrote:I responded to hotline@..., addressed to Alison Spadathreatlevelmidnight wrote:If you directly respond to the @hotline email, it will go to admissions/Alison Spada. From what I understood, you just can't waive the tuition deposit unless you sign the binding intent form. Otherwise, you can put down a tuition deposit but can still entertain offers from other schools, and possibly withdraw from GULC, but you just wont get your money back. If you're 100% GULC then I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) you can waive the tuition deposit and simultaneously agree to withdraw all other apps.Being-yonce wrote:I know this has already been asked, but I couldn't really find an answer. I got a Feeler email, but didn't respond back with an actual number I was looking for (just that costs mattered a lot to me). Should I email back with an actual number or continue to wait?

I looked over both of forms, the Scholarship Intent to Enroll Form and the Optional Tuition Deposit Waiver Commitment form. The first form, which lets you check that you will pay the deposit by may 2nd or waive with the deposit waiver, is due April 1st as they said in the scholarship email.jlopez wrote:From what I understood, you just can't waive the tuition deposit unless you sign the binding intent form. The second form, the form you have to fill out should you choose to waive the deposit, has a due date of May 2nd. That form specifies that Georgetown expects you to withdraw from all other schools and that they can provide your name to other schools.
It doesn't seem that they would bother being so specific in the language on the second form if they expected prospective students to withdraw from other institutions following the April 1st deadline. It makes me think the April 1st deadline is soft, and the intent to enroll form is not really binding.

When they say withdraw from other schools, does that include waitlists? I've always been a bit fuzzy on this subject.

From what I understand they can't require you to withdraw from waitlists because it's not considered a decision. It's an LSAC reg. They can require you to make a decision quickly if accepted off of a wait list.BirdLawExpert wrote:When they say withdraw from other schools, does that include waitlists? I figured withdraw would apply to WLs as well. With binding early decision agreements, they require you to withdraw all applications at other schools upon offer of admission, regardless of the status of that application. Since this is another kind of binding agreement, I figured the same logic/requirements might apply.BirdLawExpert wrote:Oh awesome, thanks for the clarification.TheKisSquared wrote:From what I understand they can't require you to withdraw from waitlists because it's not considered a decision. It might have been in this threat (or another, they're all running together) but here is a great post from Asha on the topic of deadlines and withdrawing and scholarships and so forthBirdLawExpert wrote:Oh awesome, thanks for the clarification.TheKisSquared wrote:From what I understand they can't require you to withdraw from waitlists because it's not considered a decision. I'm pretty sure ED is the exception because you theoretically can wait to apply to other schools. Someone should fact check me because I'm on a phonehammocklv06 wrote:I figured withdraw would apply to WLs as well. Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
Ok, so if I submit the scholarship form saying yes, and saying that I will submit form 2, but don't submit it until May 1...and then instead choose another institution once that info comes in...what happens? I guess my real question is aside from needing to submit the first form to GULC, is the April 1 deadline meaningless?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
