For people negotiating scholarships, who did you email? Admissions or financial aid?

admissions directed me to the financial aid people. the website has a specific email address/replying to your initial schollie offer should get you to the right place.threatlevelmidnight wrote:For people negotiating scholarships, who did you email? Admissions or financial aid?

Pretty sure this has already been asked and answered but for some reason I can't find it-- for summer starters does anyone know when we get our schedules/find out what section we're in?

I would also like to know the answer to this question. Thanks for this! Seeing as I no longer own an umbrella (long story) now would be the time to get one.

They'll let you know the details of your schedules, including your section assignments, closer to orientation. However, they have posted the general class schedules for the next several semesters at: http://www.law.umich.edu/currentstudent ... dules.aspx. Since summer starters are always in section ABCD, your schedule should look like:GFox345 wrote:I would also like to know the answer to this question. Summer: CivPro (Prof. Cooper), Legal Practice (various professors), Torts (Prof. Clark)
Fall: Contracts (Prof. Crane), Criminal Law (Prof. Starr), Con Law (Prof. Andrias), Legal Practice
Winter: ELECTIVES FUN TIME

Hi all. I just withdrew my acceptance. It absolutely killed me because I really could see myself loving it at Michigan, but it just isn't the right fit for me and my husband. I know all of you attending are going to have an amazing experience and I'm sad I won't be able to join you.
So, checking out. Go Blue!

Put down a deposit to reserve my place in an off-campus apartment yesterday and I'll be making my second visit to Ann Arbor next week. About 95% sure this is where I'm going to be next fall.

Hey there, would you mind if I ask where you found your off-campus apartment? I'm in the process of finding a place myself off-campus because I have a dog.WaitersIsland wrote:Put down a deposit to reserve my place in an off-campus apartment yesterday and I'll be making my second visit to Ann Arbor next week. Not sure if this is the best place for this question, but does anyone know when Michigan usually starts admitting from their waitlist?

Hey all. Long time lurker who's going to be attending in the fall and also a current Umich undergrad. Just a heads up to everyone attending the upcoming ASW--Hash Bash is on Saturday. I don't want to pass judgment on the event, so you can google Hash Bash to see what's in store. Just wanted to say that it is not representative of typical Ann Arbor, and it is only like this for one day every year. So, while evaluating the campus, try to look beyond the scores of people that will be surrounding the law quad and keep in mind that they usually will not be there.

Hey everyone, checking back in. I was one of those people that got an auto-reject on the need-based form. I wrote a very short appeal explaining my and my parent's financial situation and was just awarded $5k/semester (excluding the last semester of 3L, for some reason)! Definitely put pressure on financial aid!

All of today's events were like mingling/meet & greet stuff with students and faculty. All of the informational sessions are on Friday. Other than that, you missed trivia night which was pretty fun (but insanely hard lol).gazorpazorp wrote:So I'll be checking in for Preview Weekend early tomorrow morning... I'm super excited to be able to visit but I have to be on a plane home tomorrow evening-- would I stick out like a sore thumb if I have to bail on a panel/tour before it's fully over?
The last event/info session ends at like 5pm on Friday...so it shouldn't be too bad. Probably won't be missing much.

hey all, current Michigan Law student here. I'm available to answer any questions, feel free to reach out to me. Happy to share my thoughts on classes, clinics, OCI, etc. Summer starters, I haven't had the other professors on your list, but Professor Crane is amazing for Contracts (and for Federal Antitrust, an upper level class).

Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019
Well, I had a blast at ASW. Not sure how true it is at other times, but at least during the ASW the culture of collegiality was ramped up to like 11/10. It actually made me feel like I'd have a blast studying at law school (scary right?).
Not sure if I had the pleasure of meeting other TLSers, but all the other admits I met were extremely friendly and down-to-earth. Met a lot more K-JDs than I expected though, and it was somewhat hilarious seeing how UN-diverse the class was hah. I think I'm pretty sold on UMich if I can make the money work now.
