What's your plan? I asked for full, but didn't get an email. I'm also not doing any Gtown-related activities until after April 1st. Everyone having an ASW that weekend sucks. It's like how am I to decide where I want to go if all of you are doing crap on the same day? Depending on the tone of the email, I could see myself being like cool... bye or sending one email, like no really, find the money.Being-yonce wrote:ramybamy wrote:im curious to those of you that got the feeler email & the scholarship offer today.. how close were they to matching what you asked for?

Is anyone planning to ask for a deadling extension.

I asked for full tuition (in response to the feeler email) and was offered about half. I will likely be withdrawing soon. To withdraw does one typically just email admissions?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
I've withdrawn by sending an email to admissions thanking them for their hard work and consideration and then I briefly explain why I am withdrawing. Sometimes they send you a questionnaire to fill out or respond with a couple of questions. But mostly they just say "good luck in your future endeavors" and that's it...you're withdrawn.skimmilk wrote:I asked for full tuition (in response to the feeler email) and was offered about half. send michigan your georgetown scholarship and ask them to bump then send georgetown your bumped michigan scholarship and ask them to bump.gazorpazorp wrote:I didn't ask for a specific number (mistake?), and was offered 20k/yr. Very disappointed. My only real competing offer is 15k/yr from Michigan. Not sure how to proceed, but it will probably take around 40k/yr from GULC to actually lure me away from Mich.
if michigan doesn't bump say something about COL in DC or something and send them your michigan scholarship and tell them you want moar

I don't know anything about this stuff, but I think you need to pick out some specific data points to define better school.gazorpazorp wrote:I'm leaning toward sending GULC my Michigan scholarships and asking them to bump first, mostly because a) I don't think GULC's current offer will cause Mich to budge, and b) I think I can make a compelling case to GULC based on COL and the fact that Mich is the better school.buckiguy_sucks wrote:send michigan your georgetown scholarship and ask them to bump then send georgetown your bumped michigan scholarship and ask them to bump.gazorpazorp wrote:I didn't ask for a specific number (mistake?), and was offered 20k/yr. Do you think that would be a mistake to approach it that way?

if you want to go gulc-mich-gulc then you can do that idk if you'll have the time for that with people saying april 1 deadline but idk i'm not a negotiating expertgazorpazorp wrote:I'm leaning toward sending GULC my Michigan scholarships and asking them to bump first, mostly because a) I don't think GULC's current offer will cause Mich to budge, and b) I think I can make a compelling case to GULC based on COL and the fact that Mich is the better school.buckiguy_sucks wrote:send michigan your georgetown scholarship and ask them to bump then send georgetown your bumped michigan scholarship and ask them to bump.gazorpazorp wrote:I didn't ask for a specific number (mistake?), and was offered 20k/yr. if you want to actually consider gulc and want to try to get the scholarship raised they probably won't bump you 2x for a smaller scholarship to a peer school

Do you guys think 75% at GULC would be enough to go there vs. a top ten school?

Do they send these out in waves? Wondering why I got the feeler email but no offer email today. Anyone else still waiting on offer?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2019
I really would need to negotiate this up to convince me to pick this over my top choice at sticker...but at this point I really don't have anything to negotiate with in terms of peer offers (and I haven't negotiated the lower-tier offers up because they're realistically out of consideration for me, but now I'm regretting that as they could have been tools here). Any thoughts/advice? Can I use admission at higher ranked schools to negotiate for money here? This timeline is completely throwing me for a loop.

This is a weird binary choice. Like 75% vs full cost Michigan probably Georgetown yeahjlopez wrote:Do you guys think 75% at GULC would be enough to go there vs. a top ten school?

Negotiate with the lower schools now.darlenealderson wrote:I really would need to negotiate this up to convince me to pick this over my top choice at sticker...but at this point I really don't have anything to negotiate with in terms of peer offers (and I haven't negotiated the lower-tier offers up because they're realistically out of consideration for me, but now I'm regretting that as they could have been tools here). Negotiate with your top choice.
Yale, yes. Cornell, no.

I'll take this question to that thread so it's a little more relevant.

Now that the first round of scholarship offers begun to roll out, we have a new poll. Hopefully this is helpful for those still negotiating and waiting to hear back about an initial offer.

For those of you who are responding to initial offers, are you addressing them to your admissions contact assigned at the bottom of the email, or directly responding to Andy?

I received the feeler email in early February and did not receive an offer last night. Do we know that they're sending offers out in waves or is this a sign of no merit aid?

If you directly respond to the @hotline email, it will go to admissions/Alison Spada. It's the same email. They're not going to Andy, at least I don't think so.missie wrote:For those of you who are responding to initial offers, are you addressing them to your admissions contact assigned at the bottom of the email, or directly responding to Andy?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
