I requested one over the weekend. No response yet. I just called their office. The person who answered said she wasn't in charge of it so she took my info down and said she would let the person who handles it know that I needed an urgent response.

I have a feeling that they are. My letter about my grant said that extensions would if "others waiting to hear back about scholarships will not be adversely affected by providing you with an extension" among other things. So I think they are waiting until we respond to see what type of pool of money they are looking at who has denied/accepted offers and then offering money and maybe acceptances to more people.Applesauce11 wrote:Oh god I hope they're not delaying more scholly info till the 4/8 people have replied back.

Also requested one over the weekend. I'm probably going to call soon as well. Let me know if they get back to you!YCDAACH wrote:sockstcat wrote:Yes, I requested an extension on Tuesday and they replied on Friday.Juniper11 wrote:Did anyone successfully request an extension of the scholarship acceptance date, and if so, how long did it take for them to get back to you?

Been emailing them some more, was told that "the next wave" of financial aid will be released on April 11. Not sure how much weight to place on this statement, at this juncture I am taking it with a shot of rum and a pound of salt.

You're doing the Lord's work, getting that answer out of them. Kind of freaking out- I just declared my tentative intent to enroll- I thought doing so before the deadline would just serve to reiterate my interest and maybe push them to make a financial aid offer- but the confirmation email says that one of my next steps is to accept the financial aid offer on CalCentral. Do you guys think this was huge mistake on my part?

I did the same thing. I don't think it's a big deal. It doesn't seem like declaring is anything more than saying I'm still interested but I'm still waiting on financial aid, especially since there's no required deposit, and those next steps seem to be for when you are no longer tentatively enrolling but know affirmatively you want to enroll. Like it says "what happens next once you declare your final intent to enroll."Applesauce11 wrote:Kind of freaking out- I just declared my tentative intent to enroll- I thought doing so before the deadline would just serve to reiterate my interest and maybe push them to make a financial aid offer- but the confirmation email says that one of my next steps is to accept the financial aid offer on CalCentral. Thanks for your response! This wait for financial aid info is making me so neurotic.clurrburr wrote:I did the same thing. I don't think it's a big deal. For those of you who have committed to (or intend to) Berkeley, you can set up a guest account on Cal Rentals (https://och.berkeley.edu/) to look for roommates or apartments. You have to choose to sign up as a guest and then you'll receive an email from the Cal Rentals office asking for verification of your affiliation. Just reply to the email with a PDF of your acceptance email. I had about a 24 hour turnaround from the time I received the email asking for verification to being approved.

I requested one over the weekend. No response yet. I just called their office. The person who answered said she wasn't in charge of it so she took my info down and said she would let the person who handles it know that I needed an urgent response.

Try sending an email directly to a person in the office, rather than to the general financial aid email address. I got a pretty quick response that way.YCDAACH wrote:So there's still been no replyJuniper11 wrote:Also requested one over the weekend. I'm probably going to call soon as well. I would CC Dean Tom as well. I was talking to him at an event in my area and he said to email him so he could push them to respond by the deadlineYCDAACH wrote:Did you send it to Kristin Alvarez? Yep - sent it to Kristin. CC-ing Dean Tom probably isn't a bad idea either.YCDAACH wrote:Did you send it to Kristin Alvarez?
