The Westin at the Detroit airport is swanky! It's a freaking hotel built into the airport! What a time to be alive.

The green balloon during Sherman Clark's mock class is now and forever one if my favorite things to ever happen.
I was really sad to leave A2. This trip was awesome and I bought an MLaw hoodie even though I haven't even visited other schools yet. I want to go here so bad.

I'll show up to the lawyer's club with a trumpet to help illustrate the lesson to all those who couldn't make it.nicknar wrote:The green balloon during Sherman Clark's mock class is now and forever one if my favorite things to ever happen.

I wanted to buy an M Law shirt/sweatshirt so bad, but I don't quite have all the pieces to make my decision. A2 was awesome AND Michigan apparel is awesome to boot.nicknar wrote:The green balloon during Sherman Clark's mock class is now and forever one if my favorite things to ever happen.

I don't have all the pieces for my own decision either--I haven't even heard back from everywhere yet--but after this weekend I'm like 90% sure that this is where I want to go, which for me is enough to justify a $40 investment. It also helps that my SO loves A2 even more than I do and isnt totally thrilled with the other options.James.K.Polk wrote:I wanted to buy an M Law shirt/sweatshirt so bad, but I don't quite have all the pieces to make my decision. Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019
So, I'm trying to go to the next preview weekend but its going to be expensive and a lot of complicated travel. My other option is to just go another time when its less expensive but still a significant pilgrimage, however that obviously wouldn't have the events of the preview weekend. So my question is: is the preview weekend worth it?

There is a cutoff, though I'm not sure what it is. But if they give you an increase, it will be an overall increase... they won't say "you're a better applicant than we originally thought, so here's less money."gazorpazorp wrote:Does anybody know whether there is a certain amount of merit-Based aid above which one would no longer be eligible for need-based grants? Did anyone have success trying to up their scholarship during ASW in a "Financial Aid Counseling" meeting? I'm curious if they'd be open to re-evaluating your merit award there, or if it's literally a financial aid counseling session where they try to talk you into getting loans to finance your education and how the loans work.

Preview weekend is good because you have easy access to students, profs, and alums. This is the most important part I think. If you go on your own at another time you won't get the opportunity to talk to so many people, and you probably won't see alums on a random week.NotoriousRBGJr. wrote:So, I'm trying to go to the next preview weekend but its going to be expensive and a lot of complicated travel. Wasn't expecting to feel like I was in undergrad again at Preview Weekend. Obviously I'll have much less time to party once we're actually in law school, but between the Auction, Ann Arbor bars, the Outlaws party, PHID party, I had an absolute blast. This is exactly the type of environment I was looking for in a law school- elite, intelligent students, but also friendly and fun! Ready to deposit- Go Blue!

I was informed that my merit scholarship of approximately 1/2 tuition made me ineligible for merit aid.gazorpazorp wrote:Does anybody know whether there is a certain amount of merit-Based aid above which one would no longer be eligible for need-based grants? Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019
Has anyone else here toured Munger? Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as convenient as touring the Lawyer's Club, and I had to arrange to do it on my own time. But having toured it, it completely blows the LC out of the water. The kitchens are amazing, there is in-unit laundry, the exercise facilities and roof-top track are amazing, and the study spaces and pantry are also really nice. Add on top of that that it is cheaper than the LC and still extremely close to campus, and I really think that there is no contest. However, quite a lot of the 2Ls that I talked to really harped on the point that the LC has the potential to add to the experience while others insisted that you'll be at the Law School and working in a tight-nit group regardless of where you live.
Do you guys have any thoughts on the LC vs. Munger vs. Other Options dilemma? Right now I am honestly determined to sign my Munger Contract as soon as I receive it!

Heard the same thing. My thought process is that LC is mostly a 1L thing, while Munger will always be there for 2L and 3L.tappatappatappa wrote:Someone told me that some of the bedrooms in Munger don't have windows...? I believe that is true. I have not seen inside a unit, but currently live right by Munger and the living space looks like it spans all the windows and the bedrooms appear to be along a hallway when you walk in.tappatappatappa wrote:Someone told me that some of the bedrooms in Munger don't have windows...?
