I'm waiting for this as well, having completed the promissory notes and entrance counseling on the federal loans website. Maybe it'll come after the second deposit?

Re: Cornell Law Class of 2019
Can anyone could give me advice on how people usually dress for class here? I'm coming from FL so t-shirts and shorts are a standard year-round for me but I know some law schools have an unwritten dress code and I was wondering if Cornell was the same? Sadly, I know I will not be able to get away with shorts year-round in Ithaca but I basically just want to know if people always dress nice for class or is dressing comfortable (running shorts, leggings, sweatpants, etc.) acceptable?

Fellow Floridian here! You get a range of dress at the school. There are some people who are always looking polished and well dressed. Nothing like suits, but definitely a professional look. There are others that definitely sport a more casual look to class. The reality is that no one really cares (that I know of). For example, I tend to rock jeans or sweatpants most days of the week, mainly because I like to be comfortable when I'm spending most of my time sitting around and reading or typing. So if that is your thing, don't fret it.oliviapope1993 wrote:Can anyone could give me advice on how people usually dress for class here? As for the Florida factor, I will wear shorts and flip flops whenever I get a chance (e.g., yesterday was a high of 53 and i was rocking the t-shirt, short, and sandals look out of the principle of it being May). Again, you do have flexibility in dress that is only constrained by weather (not your peers).

From what I found out from financial aid some schools allow you to process it early online. However, for Cornell we will have to wait for financial aid to send us the official application for federal aid. They told me late May to June but I would assume June because I would think they would want you to complete your second deposit. In the meantime, you can complete the required entrance counseling and promissory note online.Dante181 wrote:I followed the instructions on this page (http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/admiss ... or_aid.cfm) except for the actual Cornell federal loan application since I'm not sure exactly how much money to request.counttoten wrote:Did Cornell send you any instructions on how to go about actually securing your federal loans? Just found out that the law library has a mascot. And that mascot is Lloyd the Llama. And they bring in a real llama during finals. I could not be happier.

Re: Cornell Law Class of 2019
I'm excited for the academic year to start this fall, and I'm trying to enjoy every minute of free time I can scrounge up until then. Having a type A personality, however, I get despondent when I'm not actually doing anything while in limbo, so I'm trying to finish up a few projects before August. Some are practical, like digitizing the boxes of old papers and photos I have lying around. Some are creative, like crocheting presents for a couple new parents, baking a few special occasion cakes, and developing the plot for a story I've been wanting to write for a few years.
What are you folks doing to get the most out of your last few weeks of freedom?

So the only thing I've received so far has been the NetID email and letter, and the financial aid and loan email. Never received my handbook, but apparently other people here didn't either so I'm just going to call tomorrow. Other than that, are we supposed to be getting any information on orientation and classes and stuff or do we just get that eventually over the summer?

I can't remember when we got information about orientation, but you will find out your class schedule and section letter about a week before the start of classes.JohnDoe007 wrote:So the only thing I've received so far has been the NetID email and letter, and the financial aid and loan email. So there's no Bank of America anywhere nearby, correct? It looks like there's one ATM on campus but no banking center. I'd like to not have to go through the hassle of a new bank if possible.

I believe there are a few ATMs around, but you're correct that there's no physical branch in Ithaca. For what it's worth, I'm planning on staying with BoA.starsofthelidd wrote:So there's no Bank of America anywhere nearby, correct? It looks like there's one ATM on campus but no banking center. Re: Cornell Law Class of 2019
No problem. Other than the convenience of staying with the same bank, it turns out there aren't any other major/national bank branches in Ithaca anyway, so I figured it's worth keeping BoA since in three years (and summers in between) I likely won't be in Ithaca. So I won't have to switch again upon graduation.starsofthelidd wrote:Ok, thanks. Yeah that makes sense. Plenty of other logistical stuff to worry about in the next few months anyway.

Do any law students sign up for meal plans? Also, is the cafe still in Myron Taylor Hall? Can you use BRBs at the cafe in the law school? Thanks!

Yes, but very few do. Fork & Gavel and Fork and Gavel Express are in Myron Taylor Hall. The website says F&G is closed for renovations until September, then mentions something about a mini version in the atrium, which I cannot fathom. No idea if renovations are supposed to continue past September. Pretty sure F&G took BRB, not sure about Express.Bouvant wrote:Do any law students sign up for meal plans? Personally, I wouldn't recommend a meal plan. Pretty much guaranteed to not use all your meals.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
