I also heard at ASW that you can get a cheap membership at NYSC (~$40/month, I believe, which is cheap for a decent gym in NYC). I used to be a NYSC member - don't remember what the Greenwich Village gym was like, but most facilities are pretty decent and it's a good option if you like taking classes.bezmialem wrote:Yeah the main gym is being knocked down/rebuilt. There's another much smaller gym a couple blocks up in one of the undergrad dorms and I think a temporary replacement gym somewhere.slippin_jimmy wrote:I heard at ASW that it is currently being remodeled and I think it's pretty close to the school.seagan823 wrote:
$2.50 falafel? That is fantastic. I lived off of two pound falafel when I studied abroad in Cairo. Granted, two pounds was like 34 cents, but I will gladly pay an extra couple dollars to avoid gastroenteritis. Speaking of pizza and falafel, anyone know anything about NYU's gym?

I can second NYSC. Probably the best gym you're going to get thats not over $100/mo in NYcbbinnyc wrote:I also heard at ASW that you can get a cheap membership at NYSC (~$40/month, I believe, which is cheap for a decent gym in NYC). My gym needs are pretty basic so hopefully the NYU temp gym has the bare essentials. Then I can save that extra $40 for an extra square foot of apartment.Budfox55 wrote:I can second NYSC. Did you negotiate?Califbess wrote:I just got an email informing my award has been changed. It went up $15k (I'm intending to get into public interest law). I'm not exactly sold, but least it's a little better than what it was.

RE: Gyms - there's a Blink Fitness right by NYU for $20/mo. Mostly a cardio mill and usually hella crowded, but if you're looking for cheap it's hard to beat. (Used to live in the area//now might live in the area again, depending on how ASW goes).

For anyone waiting on RTK info, I know of someone who was offered the scholarship on Friday and turned it down on Monday, and someone else who was offered and accepted today. My guess is that offers are winding down, if not over. But I haven't heard of any dings, so who knows!

Request for reconsideration was denied. NYU was a top choice but now I guess I will likely be elsewhere next year. Still going to ASW though...

I was offered it and accepted over the weekend! So there is definitely some movement still happening. Good luck everyone!cannonballer wrote:For anyone waiting on RTK info, I know of someone who was offered the scholarship on Friday and turned it down on Monday, and someone else who was offered and accepted today. You'll get an email when your award is ready though.

Offers got made, I'm imagining they're waiting to see if people took them or not before dinging the rest of us. But I heard the deadline to accept was Tuesday.gamerish wrote:Aren't you supposed to hear about that within a week of your interview?Oskosh wrote:What about AnBryce, though? Can anyone who's made a deposit post the wording on the agreement? There's a final intent to enroll that's due later in the summer so I'm wondering whether NYU's deposit is less binding than others.

Here it is (incidentally, you can view this yourself through the admitted students site without actually signing it):Applesauce11 wrote:Can anyone who's made a deposit post the wording on the agreement? There's a final intent to enroll that's due later in the summer so I'm wondering whether NYU's deposit is less binding than others.
"I plan to enroll at NYU School of Law in Fall 2016. I have no commitment to attend another law school, have not deferred enrollment at another law school, will not apply to another law school, have withdrawn from other law schools to which I was admitted, and will not request to be reinstated at any law school from which I have withdrawn.
I have reviewed the information about the Law School's laptop requirement and I agree to abide by its terms. I understand that all students, whether in the JD or Graduate Division, enrolled in or registered for any course at New York University School of Law are required to have, for exams and other purposes, a laptop with wireless Internet capability (one that meets the minimum specifications as described on our Website). Every student is required to type his or her exams on a computer, and handwriting will not be permitted on exams."
So their language is still pretty damn binding with regards to withdrawing from other schools. It just isn't binding you to actually enroll at NYU. I read it as, you can't change your mind and go to Harvard, but you can change your mind and not go to law school this year. Then again, I haven't taken contracts yet, so that could be entirely wrong.
If you got a scholarship offer, accepting that may be somewhat more binding, since you're now tying up funds that could be given to someone else.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
