Welp, I wasn't as lucky as the rest of y'all with negotiations, but I'm still pretty happy with my initial offer! Definitely never hurts to ask.

Same. Got an email saying they couldn't increase the offer. I'm not surprised, but I'm still satisfied with the initial offer.BirdLawExpert wrote:Welp, I wasn't as lucky as the rest of y'all with negotiations, but I'm still pretty happy with my initial offer! Definitely never hurts to ask.

Hi all, loooong time lurker but likely committing to Vandy2019 so looking to post around and get to know you folks ^__^V
got scholarship couple days back that sealed it for me.
question: any of you planning on moving close to the university to walk/bike to the law school? I am leaning toward paying premium $$ so I can walk to class lol

Hey there, I guess I'm a long time lurker too (at this thread at least), I'm not 100% committed yet, but assuming I get there within the next 3 days, I am definitely looking to stay closer on campus. At least for a year, I think the premium is worth the convenience.do_me_a_favor wrote:Hi all, loooong time lurker but likely committing to Vandy2019 so looking to post around and get to know you folks ^__^V

that's 100 percent my thinking, too. first year = pay extra for convenience, focus on adjusting to life in grad school/Nashville without commuting issues.LetsGoNow wrote:Hey there, I guess I'm a long time lurker too (at this thread at least), I'm not 100% committed yet, but assuming I get there within the next 3 days, I am definitely looking to stay closer on campus. I would also be bringing my S/O so I kinda have the roommate split already factored in.
I have noticed there are a couple apartment buildings, including Lee Apartments, that have some advertisements going right now.
to the rest, any suggestions from current students on easy to access + pet friendly apartment buildings near the law school?

Re: Vanderbilt Law Class of 2019
I am in the same exact situation! The rent there is so high but at least I have my husband that will help pay for it. We ended up getting a one bedroom across the street from campus but down by the medical buildings so I plan on walking or biking. We figure after a year we can decide if being that close is worth the extra two hundred dollars or so a month. The Lee Apartments are cheaper than most of the ones I found around the school but they were definitely run down. The one I toured had huge water spots on the ceiling and a lot of cracked walls. For just a little more you can get apartments around the school that are a lot nicer but are quite a bit smaller. We liked a few places that are in the book they sent us but ended up getting an apartment that is not in a large complex.do_me_a_favor wrote:that's 100 percent my thinking, too. first year = pay extra for convenience, focus on adjusting to life in grad school/Nashville without commuting issues.LetsGoNow wrote:Hey there, I guess I'm a long time lurker too (at this thread at least), I'm not 100% committed yet, but assuming I get there within the next 3 days, I am definitely looking to stay closer on campus. I went with a place that's about 2 miles away, which I can bike or walk if it's nice out and if it's not it's a short drive.

I'm doing exactly this. Year 2 I'll get a roommate and find a place that isn't just a giant apt complex, but for now I'm happy to just settle for convenience.do_me_a_favor wrote:that's 100 percent my thinking, too. first year = pay extra for convenience, focus on adjusting to life in grad school/Nashville without commuting issues.LetsGoNow wrote:Hey there, I guess I'm a long time lurker too (at this thread at least), I'm not 100% committed yet, but assuming I get there within the next 3 days, I am definitely looking to stay closer on campus. Re: Vanderbilt Law Class of 2019
I'm currently a 2L at Vandy and I would recommend the Bristol. Outside of the Adelicia it is probably the best building within walking distance to the school. Only takes me about 6 minutes walking to get door to door.do_me_a_favor wrote:that's 100 percent my thinking, too. first year = pay extra for convenience, focus on adjusting to life in grad school/Nashville without commuting issues.LetsGoNow wrote:Hey there, I guess I'm a long time lurker too (at this thread at least), I'm not 100% committed yet, but assuming I get there within the next 3 days, I am definitely looking to stay closer on campus.
